DCAC was a blast last week! I spoke about the talent battle in our industry and received some great feedback. Here are some of my key takeaways:
If you work at a hyperscaler and are thinking of going to the private world, then be prepared to wear a lot of hats. Like my boss says, everything is a team sport in this world. You'll be called upon to do things you haven't done in a long time, you'll be asked to continue what you've been doing, and you'll have to learn a lot of new things.
If you're a recruiter, understand and communicate how your recruit will be paid. Everyone does it differently, and it's not as cut and dry as the tech company world. Know the details and help the recruit understand - that way you serve both of your clients well.
If you're a leader at a hyperscaler and want to keep your talent, then align them with the work that allows them to produce their best product. Know your mission, communicate it, be transparent, and support growth by cutting out the static. Stick to the mission.
If you're a scrappy developer looking for talent, know that the world is big! Talent isn't always about specific experience, rather it's more about attitude, mindset, drive, and a willingness to outwork anyone else in the room.
Sound off if you've got some ideas or thoughts you want to share!
Boom!
