The Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee recently published a report which found that disabled people in the housing market had overwhelming barriers to accessible housing. To combat these challenges, they are campaigning for an increase in new accessible homes, as well as support to adapt existing homes for those with specific needs. Not only does the Committee want the minimum accessibility standards raised, but they are also calling for local authorities to be mandated to assess plans for where more accessible homes could be built.
