The IRI drone with the air quality monitor is an incredible capability on its own, but what is truly impressive is the integration of the data into Shift's common operating picture/geospatial application so that decision-makers and responders can visualize and truly understand the concentrations, extents and types of hazardous substances being detected by the IRI drone in real time on a phone, tablet or desk top. The capability to collect, display and disseminate decision-quality information in real time will completely transform how incident commanders/first responders assess and manage the consequences of a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) release including testing and identifying all likely hazardous substances onsite; determining hot and cold zones, safety perimeters and PPE requirements based on proximity to the hazard; supporting the safe conduct of rescue operations to remove affected victims from the hazardous environment; conducting geographical survey searches of suspected sources or contamination spreads and establishing isolation perimeters; mitigating the effects of hazardous materials release; and supporting evidence collection and investigation.
