What you see in the image are cage-free hens at one of Balticovo’s facilities in Iecava, Latvia. If you see them looking a bit happier, it might be true, because studies show that free hens are generally happier, and cage-free hens live in conditions that are more similar to their natural environments. In recent years, more educated and caring consumers have started to favor cage-free or, let’s say, “happier” egg production. As a result, retailers and food producers are also supporting this change. Many of Balticovo’s clients now say they only want to use cage-free eggs. Our financial partners see these efforts as positive. They want to support future-focused solutions, not outdated methods. Switching to cage-free eggs isn’t as simple as it may seem, because cage-free systems have a bigger environmental impact. Studies show that when hens have more space, it increases CO2 emissions for each egg produced and delivered. But Balticovo is addressing this by using renewable energy, such as its solar panel park, and implementing better manure management practices, like biogas production. These changes help reduce the environmental impact. As you can see, Balticovo is working hard to develop a cage-free environment for hens. I'm looking forward to replacing all existing cages at Balticovo with barns and cage-free systems by 2027 — resulting in happier hens and eggs. #Balticovo #eggs #sustainability

The repercussions of this action are heart-wrenching, as each boat alone releases around 5.6 million microplastics into the ocean every year. It's imperative that we put an end to this harmful practice and instead adopt safe, non-toxic nano technology coatings. We owe it to our precious marine ecosystem to make this change immediately.
