The Cleveland Museum of Natural History was just named the first museum in the country to achieve the highest possible US Green Building designation: LEED v4 (BD+C NC) Platinum! The honor is a testament to the museum's commitment to sustainability and the work of DLR Group and the design team over multiple phases, including Osborn Engineering. The HVAC plant was credited with providing a 32% energy advantage vs. ASHRAE 90.1 2010 and includes both a Multistack modular water cooled magnetic bearing chiller and modular heat recovery chiller. More impressively, Osborn's central utility plant redesign achieved: ✅ First cost reduction ✅ Year 1 energy savings ✅ Space reduction ✅ Increase in capacity ✅ Noise reduction ✅ Maintenance savings ✅ Simplified controls The museum's official Grand Opening celebration takes place December 13-15. Congratulations to the CMNH and the entire design and construction team. It was an honor for Gardiner and Multistack to be included on the project. #GardinerDoesIt #LEED

Today ⏰ 12:00 pm EST/ 9:00 am PST ✅ 101 Series: Can we Eliminate Heating and A/C? 🗣️ Galen Staengl of Staengl Engineering Join us for an exploration into the possibilities of eliminating traditional heating and cooling systems in building design. At our June 101 event we will explore the outcome of significantly reducing heating loads. This approach allows for the elimination of conventional heating systems, relying instead on optimized ventilation for minimal heating needs. But how does this translate to the diverse climate zones across the United States, and what implications does it have for various building types? Join us 👉👉 https://ow.ly/PyrY50RYO5g

Thanks to Building Talk and Koru Media Limited for publishing our article on sustainability and vibration control. You might not see vibration control as something that can contribute to sustainability goals, but where adaptive reuse of existing buildings is at stake, vibration control can play a hugely significant role. While vibration might be an abstract concept for many people, we can all relate to the noise created inside a building by the rumble of passing trains. Controlling this vibration is essential in making many of these buildings viable. In this article, I explain how vibration control is key in ensuring that historical buildings remain viable for users, particularly in built-up urban environments close to sources of vibration like train and tube lines. The article draws on my experience of working on the prestigious Cambridge House project, where Mason UK assisted structural engineers in providing structural isolation of a pre-existing historical building. It makes perfect sense to upgrade your heating when you're renovating. So why not go zero carbon and install a heat pump? Looking forward to discussing how to make that simple for the construction sector with Mark Hood at ZERO Construct's virtual conference tomorrow.
🤯 Everybody should know this... Retrofit still remains a mystery to many, yet its potential is boundless—achievable only through zero upfront costs. The force of nature that is Matthew Lipson from the Heat Geek team and I will be speaking tomorrow at ZERO's 24hr virtual event featuring over 50 speakers, across 40 sessions from around the world. It is an event created by the construction community for the construction community. We will be talking about what the collaborative effort of Resi and Heat Geek is doing to demystify everything our customers need to know about the potential of Heat Pumps when they are extending their homes. The talk will also focus on how many customers still do not know what retrofit is, they do not understand the benefits and unless we reduce and remove the upfront costs it will not be able to deliver its true potential which Is essential for net zero targets Link to register in comments #zeroconvirtual #zerocon #sustainableconstruction #sustainability #carboncrisis #architecture #construction #futuresolutions
