The holding organisation of the Spandau-based group of companies is sharpening its own brand essence and purpose as "Gute Gesellschaft", which translates as "Good Company". "We see Gute Gesellschaft as a family office for our shareholders, with whom we all want to achieve long-term personal fulfilment," says Hendrik Ruhe. "It is the company with which we want to be primarily associated with our shareholders over the coming decades, and we wanted to carefully sharpen the company's identity accordingly." "The name Gute Gesellschaft seemed appropriate to us for three reasons," says Johannes Gorzel. Modern Times Group MTG AB acquires Plarium Thoughts? Historically huge acquisitions happen before crysis. Currently I see that companies are pretty even on cash metrics. So there's more merge than acquisition (e.g. Embracer Group and Easybrain). So I would consider it's a strategic strengthen in these unclear times. What is Modern Times Group MTG AB? Congratulations to Featurespace and IP Group - this is the perfect case study for the Mansion House reforms. £134m cash proceeds from £23m investment over 7 financing rounds and 12 years, delivering 5.8x return. A great team of scientific founders and experienced management with ambition and support from additional venture growth investors who joined as the company grew. Backing innovation and AI before it became fashionable. A quick tally suggests that over recent years, IP Group has realised around £350m of cash from Touchstone Innovations portfolio companies, including Garrison Technology, WaveOptics, Inivata and Enterprise Therapeutics. There should be much more to come from the likes of Artios, Crescendo Biologics, Pulmocide, Mission Therapeutics & Storm Therapeutics. IP Group deserve praise for supporting these businesses over the long term. Sure, it's been a learning curve, but the model is working. It takes patience. What we need now is the Mansion House reforms to build on this and turbo charge the UK ecosystem, encouraging even greater ambition and still longer holding periods.

On completion, we expect to receive a record £134m of cash, an excellent financial return, which demonstrates both the value and the impact opportunity of our portfolio. As is the case with most of our portfolio companies, it’s been a long journey. We first invested back in 2012, becoming Featurespace’s first institutional investor, and our technology partner Jon Edington has been on the board ever since. We’ve invested £22.9m over seven financing rounds during that time with Jon Edington leading on of all the IP Group investments into the company, and we are Featurespace’s largest shareholder.
