Not all care happens at the bedside. Sometimes you have to get outdoors! And that’s exactly what we did with the residents at Golden Years Nursing Center in Ohio last week. Thanks to their great team for allowing us to host their Total Eclipse party! The eclipse brought anticipation, awe, and just plain joy! #FoundationsHealthSolutions #LTC #community #eclipse #celebration #nursing #caregivers

We often think about where we are now in life/career and where we still want to go. But we forget about how far we’ve already come. Take time to write down past accomplishments, successes, triumphs, and obstacles overcome. This might include getting through school, surviving a serious illness, getting a promotion at work, raising great kids, moving on after a relationship breakup, and so on. It may take some time to compile a comprehensive list, but it’s worth the time and effort. When you focus on what you’ve already done, it will give you the strength and courage to keep moving forward. Your past successes will help to propel you forward. When you accomplish something new, add it to the list! #NursePower #nurse #nurses #nursing #NursesOnLinkedIn

As of March 2024, Northern Ireland had 17,746 full-time equivalent registered nurses and midwives, reflecting a steady increase over the years. While half of these professionals are starting out in band 5 roles, many are moving into higher bands (6-7), and a select few (5%) are taking on leadership positions. However, despite the growth, there’s growing concern that the increase in nursing staff isn’t matching the rising demand for healthcare. Rita Devlin from the Royal College of Nursing in Northern Ireland has raised alarms about certain areas like learning disability nursing, where staff numbers have dropped significantly since 2011. Addressing these issues is crucial to ensuring our nursing workforce can meet the needs of the community. #nursingnews #medlocums #northernireland #nursingnumbers #latestnews

I was chatting with a newer #nurse recently and asked her what she wished others would do to help her. She said, "I wish they would just ask how they can support me. This even goes for my manager. Don't ask me how I'm doing, just ask how you can help and support me." Wow! This was a powerful conversation. So, instead of the well-meaning but often empty "How are you doing?" let's offer something tangible. Ask, "How can I support you?" or "What can I do to help make your day a little easier?" It could be as simple as grabbing them a cup of coffee while in the cafeteria, covering a break, or simply listening. Small gestures of support can make a world of difference. #nursesonlinkedin #nursing #healthcareonlinkedin #nurselife #supportnurses

When a plant is growing healthy but then suddenly something changes, I tend to take it personally. 🌱 Did I forget to water like usual? 😩 Does it need food? Not enough fresh air? Is it bored? Got bugs? 🐜 Too much water? Maybe I should move it for better light? But look at this photo! Sometimes I’ve given it exactly what it needs to thrive and it’s simply outgrown its pot. The best environment, love, and attention will never be perfect forever. At some point, that great growth will be too much for the current pot and it will require CHANGE. So this twirly, curly spider baby is getting a pot upgrade. A welcome change - otherwise the leaves would continue to yellow and fall and that old pot would have been its demise. Cute metaphor Change still sucks sometimes. But CHANGE is always inevitable Image source: The Birth Nurse, https://lnkd.in/eHcQTZbf @thebirthnurse #traumainformedcare #obnurse #nurses #peanutballs #nurseeducation #nursemanager #laborandelivery #patientadvocacy #obstetrics #laboranddeliverynurse #nurseleader

One thing changes and your path could be redirected Dear RN, As you journey, do not be afraid of making changes and redirecting the flow of your professional path. We would have different priorities each season and a few other factors can influence what we go for. I have in the last 2 years prioritised my wellbeing, and this has made top of my list in terms of taking up roles/specialties. This is the first box I tick ✅ and the rest of my priorities follow. Don’t be afraid of changes, maximise the power in your licence and choose the path that suits your life per season. #MondayMotivation - When faced with challenges, remember this: "Every shift, every #patient, every moment of #selfcare, everything you do as a #nurse – it begins with a choice. A choice to show up, to heal, to nurture, to find strength in ourselves and in each other. Even when the path is difficult, the choice to persevere is ours. Let's choose resilience. Let's choose compassion. Let's choose to light the way for ourselves, our colleagues, and those we care for." #nursesonlinkedin #healthcareonlinked #nursepositivity #nurses #nursing
