🚨 Urgent Request for Help! 🚨 Our team of first responders is mobilizing now to aid animals impacted by Tropical Storm Debby! Debby initially made landfall as a Category 1 Hurricane earlier this week, leaving countless homes, businesses, communities—and animals—in peril. The storm's powerful impact continues, threatening to reenergize and bring up to 30 inches of rain to coastal Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Our first stop will be in Georgia, where we are responding in partnership with NARSC (National Animal Rescue & Sheltering Coalition) to the state’s urgent request for animal search and rescue services. The situation is dire, and animals need your help. Please consider donating to support our efforts. Together, we can make a difference. 💔🐾 Your support will help us save lives and provide much-needed care to animals whenever and wherever they are in need. https://bit.ly/3LXFyx3 #AmericanHumane #TropicalStormDebby #HurricaneDebby #AnimalRescue #HelpNeeded Pictured: American Humane’s Rescue Team on a previous rescue response

🚨 3 Swartland communities awoke to disaster in the early hours of the morning when two retention dams collapsed, and fast flowing water ran through the streets, shifting houses and leaving devastation in its wake. The communities of Dassenberg, Chatsworth and Riverlands are flooded while a 4th dam's water levels are being closely monitored. Inspectors from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA and Swartland SPCA are on the ground, actively seeking out survivors, displaced animals and those at further risk of harm. There have been many animal casualties. 🚑 We are working closely with the Disaster Risk Management Centre and we have an Inspector stationed at the Joint Operations Centre to facilitate a co-ordinated emergency response to the areas of greatest need. The flooded areas can only be accessed on foot and we’re hard at work searching for the survivors amongst those whose lives have sadly already been lost to the water. Discussions with community leaders suggest that hundreds of farm animals and horses are missing and that all animal feed has been washed away. 🙏🏼There is a desperate need to help this community, please consider a donation in support of our rescue efforts or a donation of Oathay, fresh fruits or vegetables. With thanks to our friends at Checkers, donations of pet food, blankets and other animal care essentials can be dropped off at the following locations: ✅ Pet Shop Science Stores Laguna Mall ✅ Pet Shop Science Store De Zwartland Werf ✅ Checkers Big Bay Drop offs can also be made at the Cape of Good Hope, Darling and Swartland SPCA's as well as at the Riverlands Primary School where there is a well co-ordinated effort to distribute goods to the community. If there is any way for a horse to find trouble, they will do it. They can also find ways to escape and disappear. If this happens, what steps can you take to find them quickly? And if you don't, what do you do next? Horses can be notorious for finding trouble and disappearing. If your horse goes missing, it's essential to act fast to locate them. You can start by searching the surrounding area and asking neighboring horse owners for any sightings. You can also post flyers with detailed descriptions and pictures of your horse. If you're still unable to find your horse, don't hesitate to report them missing to your local animal control, police department, or sheriff's office. They can help spread the word and increase the chances of finding your horse. Additionally, file a report with Stolen Horse International, NetPosse, the only nonprofit organization in the USA with 27 years of experience, to provide more exposure. We are not just a Facebook page. Remember that time is of the essence in these situations, so don't delay in taking action. You can increase the likelihood of locating your missing horse with a quick response and the right resources.

The water is coming to Żagań, where we produce our pet beds. We have our hands full securing our production, machinery, and materials as the floods is possible in our city too. But in the midst of it all, we also remember those who cannot take care of themselves - dogs and other animals caught in the chaos. As Poland battles this natural disaster, animals are especially vulnerable. They depend on us for safety, and we can all play a part in helping them survive this difficult time. Here’s how we can make a difference: Rescue and Sheltering 🏡 If you come across stranded animals, notify local rescue services or take temporary action to help. Many are scared and displaced, needing immediate shelter and care. Donate Supplies 📦 Animal shelters and rescues are in urgent need of pet food, blankets, medical supplies, and carriers. Every donation helps ensure more animals are cared for during these critical hours. Support Pet-Friendly Evacuations 🚑 Encourage and promote evacuation plans that include pets. Too often, people stay behind in danger zones because they don’t want to leave their animals behind. Raise Awareness 📣 Spread the word about how to help animals during this crisis. Share emergency contacts and resources across your networks to ensure both pets and wildlife are given a fighting chance. Adopt or Foster 🐕🦺 Consider adopting or fostering a displaced pet. Local shelters may become overcrowded, and even short-term care can be a lifesaver for an animal in need. At this time of crisis, our responsibility goes beyond securing our businesses and homes—we must also stand up for those who cannot protect themselves. Together, we can ensure that no one, human or animal, is left behind as we face this disaster. Stay safe, stay strong, and let’s act with compassion. 🐾💙 #AnimalRescue #SupportPoland #TogetherWeCan #PetSafety #Wikopet #Żagań

"Most emergency shelters are not pet-friendly… But the Providing for Unhoused People with Pets (PUPP) Act wants to fix that. Natural disasters… House fires… Financial hardship… No matter the circumstances, access to emergency housing is a lifeline. But if shelters don’t allow pets, unhoused people must make the impossible decision between having a roof over their heads or staying with their beloved companion animal. The PUPP Act is a bipartisan Congressional bill that would create a grant program to provide emergency shelters with funds to support clients with pets. Funds can be used to retrofit facilities to better accommodate pets, provide basic veterinary services and more – all with the aim of removing unnecessary barriers to emergency housing. If you agree that pets are family, add your name and help make shelters pet-friendly!"

Topical Content: Cyclone Dana: A Call to Action for Stray Dogs in India As Cyclone Dana makes landfall on the eastern coast of India, we can observe its destructive impact on helpless animals such as stray dogs. The sheer intensity of the storm brings in its wake heavy downpours and severe winds leaving myriad street dogs in lurch. Stray dogs who often look for shelter under trees or in desolate buildings, find themselves susceptible to the elements during such harsh weather. With many areas experiencing waterlogging, food and water sources are hard to find for these hapless animals making survival even more challenging. Local animal shelters and rescue organizations are overburdened and pushed to their limits as they try to provide care, food, and shelter to the affected strays. Many groups are doing their best to rescue dogs from perilous situations, but they need our support! Here’s how you can help: 1. Donate: Consider donating to local animal shelters or NGOs engaged in stray welfare. Even bare minimum contributions can help in providing in the long run. 2. Volunteer: If you're in an impacted area, consider giving your time to assist rescue operations or provide makeshift shelter for stray dogs. 3. Spread Awareness: Share this post to create and spread awareness about the plight of stray dogs during natural calamities. The more people know, the more we can collectively act! Together, we can make a change for these vulnerable lives caught in the havoc of Cyclone Dana. Let’s unite for our furry friends and make sure that they find safety and care in this time of disaster. #CycloneDana #StrayDogs #AnimalRescue #HelpStrays

TODAY, on Giving Tuesday, you can help with the ongoing work of these dedicated officers. Our Animal Protection Officers face one of the toughest, most dangerous jobs in the shelter world—and they do it willingly, day in and day out, because the animals need them. From responding to distress calls to rescuing animals in life-threatening situations, the risks are real, and the emotional toll is heavy. But despite the challenges, they stay. They stay for the animals who have no voice, no advocate—those who are sick, injured, or abandoned. This #GivingTuesday, your donation can make a direct impact on the lives of both the animals our officers rescue and the officers themselves. Your support helps keep our team safe as they face dangerous situations, provides the critical care the animals need to heal, and enables us to offer ongoing training and education to ensure our officers are equipped to handle the toughest of challenges. By giving today, you're not just supporting the rescue efforts—you’re empowering our team to continue their life-saving work with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to succeed.
