My honest advice for anyone struggling during the holidays. It’s okay to not feel okay. I know that sounds pretty crap to read especially when you are going through your own emotions and challenges, where it feels like nothing will help at the moment… but honestly things will get better. The pressure to be “happy” or “perfect” can be overwhelming and those endless Chirstmas ad’s don’t always help. But my advice is to take time for yourself, set boundaries, and lean on the support of those who care. You’re not alone during this time and it’s perfectly fine to ask for help when you need it. Be gentle with yourself 💖 #HolidaySelfCare #MentalHealthMatters #YouAreNotAlone #BeGentleWithYourself #TakingCare

🎁 The holidays can be overwhelming for those with IDD, but small steps can make a big difference. When the noise and excitement of the season become too much, it’s helpful to create space for breaks and quiet time. Encourage regular moments of rest, help find calm spots away from the crowd and gently remind your loved ones that it's okay to take a step back when needed. Focus on making the holidays feel peaceful, not stressful, and prioritize comfort for everyone. #IDD #EmpoweringIDD #IDDAdvocates #HolidayMentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness

As the holiday season approaches, I’ve been reflecting on the exhaustion many of us are feeling. The expectations this time of year can be overwhelming—whether it’s managing family dynamics, work, gatherings, or the end-of-year to-do lists. On top of that, the recent election has stirred up intense emotions, leaving many of us feeling unsettled, stressed, and uncertain. It’s a lot to carry. Given all this, I want to invite you—this year and every year—to give yourself permission to move at your own pace. It’s okay to slow down. It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to prioritize what truly matters to you. In my latest blog, I share some thoughts on how we can approach the holidays with more intention and less pressure. It’s about recognizing when we’re stretching ourselves too thin and finding simple ways to reconnect with ourselves amidst the busyness. This holiday season, I’m embracing softness, community, and presence, and I invite you to take a moment to check in with yourself and think about what you want to prioritize during this time.

The Unexpected Adventure Begins 😪 I never saw it coming. One minute I was cruising through my routine, and the next, I was thrust into the role of a lifetime 🫡 caregiver, nanny, and 'auntie' extraordinaire 😘 It started with a phone call, an exciting news that I'm finally an auntie 💃 and before I knew it, I was navigating hospital corridors, changing diapers, and perfecting the art of baby whispering. The chaos was real, phewww 😪 But amidst the sleepless nights and endless laundry cycles (who knew tiny humans needed so many outfit changes?), something remarkable happened. I discovered inner reserves of strength, resilience, and creativity. ✅ The Scheduling Savior 🫡 In the midst of mayhem, one habit proved to be my sanity-saver: scheduling. That Monday night, as I frantically prepared content for the week ahead, I didn't realize how crucial it would become. With network connectivity as unreliable as my sleep schedule, those pre-scheduled posts went live as planned, keeping my online presence afloat. ✅ Looking back, I realized: 1. We're capable of more than we think. 2. Scheduling can be a lifesaver. 3. And, most importantly, laughter (and coffee) can conquer even the most chaotic of days. What's your story of overcoming unexpected challenges? How did you tap into your inner strength? Share your inspiring tale in the comments below. Let's Connect Habiba Musa, for more stories of resilience, self-discovery, and growth. P. S. It's day 22 of the consistency challenge with Techies on LinkedIn, I'm glad I showed up for 22 days even with the turns of events that life threw at me 🫡. #tolconsistencychallenge #techiesonlinkedin #Resilience #Caregiving

As we begin the Thanksgiving holiday week I feel a need to provide a public service announcement to all those feeling stressed and exhausted. This weekend I had multiple conversations with loved ones who are overhelmed, not sleeping well, and at their breaking points. 🤯😩😱 Year-end deadlines at work are weighing on their shoulders and extending their work hours, family members are ill or in crisis, holiday preparations are consuming their limited free time and self-care is simply a dream! If they are not already burnt out they are fast approaching this dangerous state.😢 No work deadline, holiday meal, or home improvement project is worth sacrificing your mental, physical or emotional health. Self-care is not selfish! It is self-love.!💜 Don’t put yourself at the bottom of your to do list, or worse, leave yourself off the list. Today is the perfect day to move your well-being to the top of your list! Ask for help at work and home, go to bed 30 minutes earlier, take short breaks throughout the day, go for a walk, listen to music, play with your children or pet, call a friend, or meditate for 5 minutes. #SelfCare
