Very sad to hear about yet another #JPLlayoff right at the start of the holiday season. I hope this time it was executed more kindly. On the flip side to those affected and anyone else considering a switch from outer space to planet Earth: I believe that change is good for your career. As a space program engineer you can bring your skills to solve challenges here on Earth, which is incredibly rewarding and to be honest an eye opener on how much more you can do as an Engineer when you consider the points below: 1. Your customer is planet Earth, you don't have to hunt for life here, you can help protect it. 2. Your Level One Requirement is protect and heal the planet. 3. Your science traceability matrix is entirely driven by minimizing mass and power (and CO2), so as the engineer you've got this. 4. Designing for extreme environments is similar to designing to protect the environment, in that novel highly optimized solutions are required. Hydroplane is looking for a strong a multi disciplinary Chief Engineer in early 2025. So if you have deep technical knowledge in Mechanical, Aerospace and electrical hardware, design, and test for electric vehicles (rovers count) from concept to delivery, you should consider applying.

It’s been about a month since I joined Saint-Gobain / Omniseal Solutions as an Applications Engineer. In this short time, I’ve gained insight into the “silent” yet multimillion-dollar sealing industry. Back in engineering school, I studied thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanics of materials. However, sealing—essential for preventing fluid leakage and maintaining vacuums—was never mentioned. We just assumed systems like the piston in thermodynamics or the pipe connection in fluid mechanics were properly sealed. Over the past month, I’ve had the privilege of designing seals for the aerospace, automotive, and semiconductor industries, working with applications that range from cryogenic to extremely high temperatures. Collaborating closely with engineers in these fields has shown me just how critical proper sealing is to both performance and safety. Our seals are at the heart of reliable machinery. A leaking engine seal can compromise performance and, more importantly, put lives at risk. I’m proud to be part of a company and a team that helps the world move forward, enabling technology to evolve and function safely and effectively. #engineering #mechanical #sealing #aerospace #automotive #semiconductor

I am Excited to share that I have successfully completed a project on "Linear and Nonlinear Analysis and Post-processing", which has enriched my understanding of advanced engineering principles and analytical techniques. In this project, I delved into the complexities of linear and nonlinear analysis, exploring their applications in structural mechanics, thermal analysis, and other engineering disciplines. Through meticulous simulation and analysis, I gained insights into the behavior of materials and structures under various loading conditions, enhancing my ability to design and optimize engineering components for real-world applications. The post-processing phase of the project was equally enlightening, as I learned to interpret simulation results, extract meaningful data, and present findings in a clear and concise manner. This experience has not only honed my technical skills but also improved my ability to communicate complex engineering concepts effectively. I am grateful for the opportunity to undertake this project, as it has significantly contributed to my growth as an engineer. I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills I have gained to future projects, where I can make a positive impact through innovative engineering solutions. #Coursera #MechanicalEngineering #Analysis #LinearAnalysis #NonlinearAnalysis #PostProcessing #Certificate #Learning #EngineeringEducation #ContinuingEducation #SkillsDevelopment #ProfessionalDevelopment #MechanicalEngineer
