💡 Monday's Lesson: Customer is NOT first. ❗ I'd like to share again this impactful short interview from world's top hospitality group Danny Meyer, on the Art of Hospitality. He reminds us that unlike what we've always said, client is not first, is it just second. Your EMPLOYEES are FIRST. Indeed, they are the ones who will transmit this will to make your clients feel good. They are the ones who will be responsible for creating this atmosphere that makes you feel good while being somewhere. Choosing the right team to embody your service matters. More then we think. When hiring staff, always go for 51% skills in emotional management, and the remaining 49% of technical skills. Now I'll let you enjoy this precious bit of knowledge for yourself 💡 https://lnkd.in/epTgAGpx

Crisp and Michael Mogill, ★★★★★ are holding their annual American law firm "game changer" summit on November 13-14. crisp is providing law firm owners with the unique "privilege" of requesting an invite to this conference. Upon receipt of your request for an invitation, and if mr. mogil deems you worthy, you have the "privilege" of paying thousands of dollars to listen to mr. mogill, his wife, ludacris, nick saban, and other people who have no legal training, teach you how to run your American law firm. mr. mogill is so confident in his game changer circus's ability to create "unreasonable" growth in your American law firm, that if after attending the first full day of the game changers summit, you don’t feel you received at least $1,000,000 of value to create growth in your law firm, mr. mogill will not only refund your ticket, he'll pay for your flight home. I only wish that I knew of mr. mogil, his game changing upl circus, and his million dollar guarantees before I spent all that time and money on law school, studying for the bar, and before I spilled all that blood, sweat, and tears on becoming a lawyer. mr. mogil is not a lawyer, he didn't go to law school, he didn't pass the bar, he didn't pass the MPRE, and on and on and on. If you're an American lawyer attending mr. mogil's magic law firm growth upl circus, make sure you review the laws of your state before accepting any of his advice - he's not a lawyer (he doesn't know what he doesn't know). #American #law #justice #ludacris #crisp #corproate #hubris

A winning restaurant team connects on a deeper level than skills alone. In interviews, discuss motivations and meaning to reveal applicant values. When the crew shares fundamental beliefs about service, hard work, and hospitality, a powerful bond fuels exceptional experiences. 🥂 Another 'first' ticked off last night - The Casual Dining Awards! 🎉 A huge thank you firstly to the The Restaurant Group for inviting us & being such great company! A massive congratulations to all the winners - we love to see some of our beloved Yumpingo Customers getting that well deserved recognition ❤️ Reflecting on this experience, I am reminded of the importance of checking in on my own career aspirations and accomplishments. With over 15 years in Client Services, and 6 of those dedicated to hospitality technology, anyone that has worked with me will know that I forge strong client relationships based on my commitment to deliver (yes tooting my own horn a little here for a moment), my dedication to drive results with transparency, whilst sharing my knowledge and guidance. Perception & reputation has always been incredibly important to me and that means working hard & being the best I can be in my role. Admittedly, I've previously bypassed events, citing time constraints—an oversight I now recognise. Over the last year or so, I've had the opportunity to 'get out there' more and that's allowed me to become so much more rounded as a professional - Some of the most meaningful conversations happen over a glass or two of vino! Walking into industry gatherings now, I'm greeted by familiar faces, we pick up on our last conversations, check in on life - genuine connections beyond business matters. In summary, while delivering results remains, to me, the foundation of a building a strong personal brand, investing time in forging connections outside 'office hours' is equally essential. It's it's an empty shell of a house if you don't dedicate the time to share life experiences, celebrating success, and forget about the day to day stresses together! 🙌 Note to future self though - Take more photos! 😅

For many of us in the Hospitality industry- you must have heard about or watched "Faulty Towers” starring John Cleese, British Sitcom from the late 70’s. For anyone who has not seen a clip and you are in hospitality, please find a clip and check it out. It’s old but you will be surprised with the similarities you see in your organizations. The video below was shared on line- a Front Office employee in some hotel losing his $#!%. It’s crazy because you see more and more of these clips popping up on Social Media. I recently received one where the valet proudly using his 5 star ⭐️ pin going absolutely crazy. I truly hope these are isolated cases. What’s going wrong? ⭐️Limited options when recruiting. ⭐️Poor training ⭐️Rude Clients ⭐️Poor work environment ⭐️All of the above Have you experienced this as a leader or a guest? What can we do to change it? #customerservice101 #faultytowers #creategreatexperiences

When founders tell me they want to 'Trim The Fat', I share this story. In 2007 I was working as an F&B Manager at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. It was a super quiet evening, EVERY one of the thousands of guests was at the same convention and had dinner plans already in banquets. As a young manager, I saw a perfect opportunity to cut some costs and send half our room service staff home for the evening. No overtime today. I'd be a hero right...? 11:03 PM hits. Convention ends. Banquet breaks... Thousands of guests returned to their rooms and what happened next was a very humbling lesson. EVERY single one of them started ordering room service. Cheeseburgers. Beers. Nachos... You name it they wanted it. It was a complete chaos. We had front desk staff running plates and housekeepers delivering orders. We had to unplug the phones because we couldn't handle the volume. It was the craziest experience ever, but we survived. The takeaway? Sometimes what looks like “optimization” on paper can quickly spiral into chaos in reality. Here’s the lesson: 1️⃣ Don’t cut corners if you don’t fully understand the ripple effects. “Savings or Cheap” today can become costly chaos tomorrow. 2️⃣ Know your audience - I mean REALLY know them. ✅ In this case, the convention attendees weren’t just any group. They were male sales execs in their 20s and 30s. After a long day of networking and a banquet that left them less than satisfied, it was obvious in hindsight that they’d want something quick, hearty, and satisfying as soon as they hit their rooms. The bigger point? Optimization isn’t just about cutting/saving. It’s about understanding where to cut, when to cut, and - most importantly - when to double down instead. When you truly know your audience, you can anticipate their needs, act with foresight, and make smarter decisions that keep chaos at bay. Ever had a “heroic” plan blow up in your face like this? I’m all ears - spill the beans (or nachos) 😅! ------------- PS: Hi, I’m JP – ex hospitality veteran, dragged-around-the-block entrepreneur, and relentless business development and sales strategist. Good watch! Based on Will Guidara's principles of great hospitality, I find that applying these concepts to catering sales involves translating them into actionable strategies to enhance the client experience: 1. Empathy and Understanding: Deeply understand the unique needs and preferences of potential clients. Actively listen to their event requirements and expectations to tailor your offerings effectively. 2. Creating Emotional Connections: Move beyond transactional interactions to foster genuine rapport and trust. Show sincere interest in clients' events and demonstrate how your catering service can enrich their experience. 3. Personalization: Customize proposals and services to align seamlessly with each client's specific preferences and event vision. 4. Surprise and Delight: Incorporate unexpected elements or thoughtful touches that surpass client expectations and leave a lasting impression. 5. Teamwork and Culture: Ensure your sales team and catering staff are united in delivering exceptional service. Foster a culture that prioritizes collaboration and a shared commitment to client satisfaction. 6. Continuous Improvement: Solicit feedback from clients post-event to identify areas for enhancement and opportunities for innovation. Use insights gained to refine and elevate future offerings. 7. Authenticity: Build trust through transparent and sincere interactions. Maintain integrity in all communications and commitments. By integrating these principles into our catering sales approach, we aim not only to meet but to exceed client expectations consistently. Each principle serves as a guiding beacon, enabling us to create memorable experiences and forge lasting relationships with our clients.
