It goes without saying that I submitted a session for SXSW London 2025. I've had the pleasure of speaking at SXSW Austin twice, and to be honest, I love the buzz of the event, meeting interesting people and facing my fears as I take to the stage to share my ideas. For 2025, I've teamed up with Seth Jackson to share our ideas on 'AI for Joy: Redefining Creativity with AI, Robots and Humour'. For those of you who don't know Seth, he's the king of getting AI to put a smile on our faces. Be it via his mind-controlled beer-pouring robots (yep, that's a thing) or AI-powered security agents that you have to trick into opening a safe. For those who don't know the part I play in AI humour - I created the world's first podcast sitcom powered at every stage by AI. The show, Made in AI (available on all the usual platforms) follows a family of AI robots who have been abandoned by their makers and left to fend for themselves in the real world. Today, SXSW opened their website for public voting. By heck, if you've read this far, you can spare a minute to vote for Seth and me - look for AI for Joy: Redefining Creativity with AI, Robots and Humour'. Good vibes come to those who vote ✅

Let's get libraries to SXSW Sydney! Voting is now open, and UTS and ALIA have joined forces for a panel submission - AI: Where's the source? Why vote for us? Well to explore everything from First Nations data sovereignty to what on earth people do when faced with an overly helpful search engine. New insights from research and practice combine - it's going to be FUN! Also - frankly - to make sure our library expertise helps others. It's a star studded line up with Dr Kirsten Thorpe, Dr Heather Ford, Amy Walduck and myself. To vote: 1. Head to this link: https://lnkd.in/gVGgwpgw 2. Log in or register 3. Head to the AI & Robotics category and search "AI: Where’s the source?" 4. Vote away! (Voting closes 25 April) #LibrariesTransform #LibrariesChangeLives #Libraries #Library #LIS #Research #AI #ICIP

Why is inclusive design still treated as optional? It’s 2024, and businesses still cut accessibility the moment budgets shrink or timelines tighten. Regulations might say otherwise, but for many, it’s still treated as just another tick-box exercise. And now, AI is adding a whole new layer of complexity. Trained on biased data, many AI tools make it harder to create truly inclusive experiences. So, how do we fix this? How can we make sure AI drives inclusion, not exclusion? Inclusive design isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s smart business. It builds stronger teams, delivers better customer experiences, and ensures your business is ready for the future. At SXSW London, I want to explore how we can reframe inclusive design as a holistic strategy that influences every aspect of your business, and show you practical ways to embed it into your processes and make it a priority without compromise. But to make it to the stage, I need your help. 🗳️ Sign up for a SXSW voting account and hit the heart on my session page here: https://lnkd.in/e8UWY_sW

👋 Self-promotion (a little cringe)... but here goes: Vote for my London SXSW Panel! 🗳️ Here's why... After 30+ years as a theatre practitioner and patron, I hold one fundamental truth: 'All the World's a Stage.' The tools I gained building characters for the stage have become a bit of my secret weapon in marketing, product development, and growth strategy. You see... 🎭 A character is simply a person in some given context, trying to achieve some desired outcome, faced with a set of obstacles that prevent this achievement. They take a set of actions to try to overcome these obstacles, often sharing what they're thinking (dialog), while also having a rich inner life that draws an audience to them (inner monologue). 🤷♂️ Guess what? This is no different than any customer research project you will ever undertake. Characters = people. All the world's a stage! 🤖 Now... let's apply this thinking to a world stage that's transforming nearly every interaction we have: Artificial Intelligence. We are quite literally active audience members with AI, yet so far, the many worlds and platforms of the emerging tech haven't quite found their "stagecraft." Could the principles of traditional theatre help here? I think so... ✅ That's what I've done – take the premise of traditional theatre stagecraft, gathered a few friends from theatre companies I support, married that with some Oliver Wyman AI talent (inside our Quotient offering) and voila: a workshop that will show you how applying a few tools of the theatre trade can help turn the "Wild West" of AI into much more practical, grounded applications for use upon your everyday stage, no matter what that stage may be. Thanks and I appreciate the vote! ID: 4512 XR Transformation Title: All the world’s A(I) stage: Unleashing AI Through Immersive Storytelling

Do you also feel constantly the fear that you are missing out on most relevant things? (FOMO) Do you also feel constantly the fear of becoming obsolete? (FOBO) Do you also feel constantly the fear of being out of time? (FOBOT) The states of FOMO, FOBO, FOMOT - welcome to the age of AI. High time to consider how fear can be overcome - Beyond FOMO, FOBO, FOMOT - at SXSW. If you are interested in practices of temporal kintsugi, vote for our session at SXSW in London.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the constant pressure to keep up? 😫 In today's fast-paced world, we're constantly bombarded with information and expectations. This can lead to feelings of FOMO (fear of missing out), FOBO (fear of becoming obsolete), and FOBOT (fear of being out of time). ⏰ But what if there was a way to reclaim our time and find a more sustainable way of living? 🌳 Introducing temporal kintsugi, a new concept that encourages us to mend the "tears" in our perception of time and find a balance between AI-driven acceleration and the slower pace of nature. ⏳ How can we embrace temporal kintsugi? - Mindful AI integration: Use AI to enhance our lives, not dictate them. 🤖 - Playful experimentation: Question traditional notions of productivity and efficiency. 💡 - Embrace human agency: Reclaim our power to shape our own time. 💪 By embracing temporal kintsugi, we can create a more meaningful and fulfilling life in the digital age. ☺️ I'm excited to share that my dear colleague Prof. Dr. Ingo Rollwagen and I have submitted a session proposal on temporal kintsugi to SXSW London. Your vote will help bring this important conversation to the conference stage! Please visit this link and cast your vote for our session: https://lnkd.in/dXEJuP6E Then type 'kintsugi' in the search bar.
