Are we vastly underestimating AI? with Dwarkesh Patel On the latest episode of Onward, Dwarkesh and I explore the future of artificial intelligence. Dwarkesh is inside the very small community of people who may, right now, be on the cusp of inventing artificial general intelligence. What gives him a real inside view is not only his conversations with the leaders of every major AI company—including the founders of OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google’s DeepMind—but also his close friendships with his peers, who are the next generation of tech leaders inside these companies. Dwarkesh pulls back the curtain so that the broader public can understand what people who are actually building AI think is about to happen. Nope, I think the opposite.....Silicon Valley is hyping up AI as the "next big thing" to secure investors. I think there are specific applications, where it will make sense. But in many industries, there's no replacement for an actual human being (when empowered) that can make decisions and apply their past experiences to a given situation.

I don’t think so, because what I see people doing is preparing, not yet overusing. As long as we are in preparation mode we are in preventive mode and that’s what we must be able to do. Prevent negative outcome’s and produce useful ones.
Hmmm #Curi0z If the meaning of life of a human is #42 … is the meaning of life for Ai #37…? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AlphaGo_versus_Lee_Sedol
I think the hype around what AI could do when it first came out, up until now was/is overhyped. However I think in the future AI will be able to do a lot more things. Especially if the barriers of entry for developing AI get lowered
I think the hype is BS. It just needs to go sit in the corner and be quiet. It’s in its infancy and cannot do anything useful but get in the way.
No. AI is heavily propagandized for some companies and consultants to make money.
No, people with common sense understimate AI because it's a lot of fluffy promises and a great deal of expense to implement.
