Our marketing team truly embodied the spirit of giving this holiday season. They crafted over 120 care packages filled with gloves, hats, toothbrushes, and other essentials —plus some tasty snacks! These kits were donated to local shelters in Lancaster to support the unhoused in the community.
Great work, team! #GivingBack#HolidaySpirit#SpiritOfGiving

Are you on the nice list?
We are once again running our Advent Calendar, which is linked to Acorn Enterprises Amazon Wishlist.
The Wishlist is packed with small pieces of equipment, tools and craft essentials needed to run our upcycling and textiles projects at Acorn.
Prices start from as little as £1.90 for a paint brush and it’s a great way to donate to charity, knowing it is directly helping Islanders who have a disability or long-term health condition.
Email caroline.spencer@jet.co.je with a number between 1 and 24.

Have you ever done a deep purge of your house? Recently, my wife and I went through every closet, every drawer, and went straight up Marie Kondo on every square inch of our place. Bags and bags of stuff that didn't "spark joy" anymore were taken to DI and donated.
When we originally moved into our place 4 years ago we never imagined filling up all of the space. We had multiple rooms we never even went into. 2 kids later, it's amazing how much stuff we have accumulated over the years. The process has been extremely liberating and therapeutic as we can finally get rid of all the items that have been sitting in a closet for 4 years just waiting for its time to shine.
But this got me thinking, the same thing can happen not just to stuff, but to our lives as well. It's so easy to keep adding more and more to our plates without doing a "spring cleaning" every once in a while. The next step in our process is to sit down and make a list of all the outdated processes / non-value add activities that have slowly crept into our lives over the years and really evaluate whether those are worth continuing.
What are some suggestions you have for reprioritizing your life and making sure that the most important things are getting done first? Share your thoughts in the comments. #lifepurge#prioritization#springcleaning
In a world of takers be a giver for once🫂
Giving back has taught me life lessons in more ways than one. I also realised the impact our businesses can have on the local community and take responsibility to give back, and not just focus on doing business.
For example, with our Airbnb clients, we donate unopened and in-date food left behind by guests to local food banks.
We also donate Books that are left behind to local libraries or “street libraries”.
These simple act supports those in need and helps reduce waste in the short-let industry. ( which is more common than you think)
I definitely plan to do more to more initiatives related to Ready to Shine cleaning services services and on my own as an individual.
use this post as a reminder, to get involved with any initiatives that may help others who are less fortunate than you.
The way this world is going, the smallest gesture is enough to make someone smile. ✌🏾

⭐️NEW WORK ⭐️
It was such a joy to work on a new site for local food bank, Loaves and Fishes 🥳
I worked with Lesley and the team to create a new site, after their old one had gone down and they’d been left relying on their Facebook page.
The key was to make sure it was:
✅ Customer-focused, including helpful videos for weekly food prep
✅ Easy to find ways to support the charity
✅ Clear and accessible
This is the first charity website project I have worked on, and I learned so much!
Check it out, I’ve put the link in the comments. 👇

Video Description - A video showing previews of the website, text to the side reads “New Project for an amazing food bank” with a checklist stating below “clear navigation, clear donation list, how you can help, and helpful videos for customers”.
🥪🧋 For today's LUNCHTIME TAKEAWAY, our September impact figures are on the menu. Newer followers may not know that we publish these figures each month.
Things to take away from these figures:
⬇️Outreach numbers were lower than usual due to our August closure for our move.
⬆️ Our referral session figures were the HIGHEST in our ten and a half year record, perhaps because our client service was temporarily closed in August.
🏋️♀️ Massively changing the lives of so many people per month as a huge impact on our team and organisation.
🙏 You can help by joining our volunteer team weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays (especially Wednesdays). Email info@sharewearclothingscheme.org for details.
🪙 You can help by donating to support our work https://lnkd.in/d_tUcZ3Y
Why not skip that extra coffee today and donate the cost instead?
Giving makes us feel less powerless.
Why do most of us get this deliciously good feeling when we give a gift to someone?
When we donate to a cause we believe in?
When we physically help someone, giving of ourselves?
In a world where we feel we have so little control over what happens around us, giving can feel really empowering.
When we contribute to a cause, help a friend in need, or support a community, we reclaim a bit of control over the world around us.
We *can* make an impact.
We *can* effect change.
We have some power.

1. Start with a plan and set realistic goals.
2. Sort items into categories (keep, donate, toss).
3. Use organizers and storage solutions to keep things tidy.
4. Take breaks and reward yourself for progress.
