🌟 STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE OF RELATIONSHIPS & NETWORK Drawing on groundbreaking research involving 20 million people, this Harvard Business Review article reveals that moderately weak connections, rather than close relationships, play a pivotal role in job discovery and transition. 👇 https://lnkd.in/dEBfpDyT Our moderately weak connections, rather than our closest ties, hold the key to unlocking new career opportunities. 🤝 When a Candidate Becomes a Friend: The Unexpected Rewards of Recruiting As recruiters, we’re in the business of building connections—but sometimes those connections grow into something more meaningful than just a placement. I recently had the privilege of working with a fantastic candidate. Though the opportunity wasn’t the right fit at the time, we stayed in touch. Over time, this individual not only became a good friend but also turned into a trusted ally, introducing me to other talented professionals in their network. Here’s what this experience reminded me: 🌟 Relationships matter. Recruiting isn’t just about filling roles—it’s about listening, understanding, and supporting people through their career journeys. This candidate’s willingness to share contacts and insights has helped me connect with incredible talent. It’s a testament to how collaboration can thrive when mutual respect and trust are at the core. 💡 Every interaction counts. It can be difficult to break into large corporations, particularly in the communications industry. Talented experts from smaller firms or different industries frequently feel overlooked since many corporations prioritize internal applicants or referrals from within their networks. A system that significantly favors those already inside the organization might make it difficult for outsider candidates to get recognized, even if they have an abundance of diversified experience and transferable talents. For people who are keen to contribute new ideas and viewpoints, this hiring prejudice can be discouraging. On the other hand, this difficulty also emphasizes how crucial networking and industry positioning are. It's critical to establish connections with experts at your target companies and have meaningful conversations with them at industry events or on LinkedIn. Even though it could take more time and work to get into the corporate sector, dedication, lifelong learning, and looking for chances to show off your skills can eventually lead to opportunities. We must begin identifying talent outside of internal networks and provide equitable opportunity to individuals who can contribute outside of the corporate bubble. . . . . . . . #corporate #corporatelife #workequality #worklifebalance #opportunity

Thought of the day 💭 Companies and individuals often wait until they are ready to hire/ready to move jobs before speaking to people - I believe in having conversations months before, in order to build a bit of a relationship. When you can have a no strings attached 'networking' call with someone, you can quicky either rule in, or rule out, that particular company as a potential employer of the future. You're not 'cheating' on your current employer by simply networking with others in your industry. ➡️If you're happy in your current role, and you're approached by another company - don't immediately dismiss the option to chat with them. Yes, you're very happy and comfortable in your current role - but what if everything fell apart tomorrow? Wouldn't you want 2 or 3 trusted relationships in place that you could go to if you needed to find a new role? ➡️If you're a business, don't wait for your team to hand in their notice before recruiting - get out into your market and network with people who you think could do a job for you. If you're too busy for this, Creegan Talent can do it for you 😉 #networking #talent #opportunities #conversations

#LinkedIn is a powerful platform for professional growth, but it's important to remember that landing a job isn't guaranteed, especially in today's competitive market. Talent acquisition teams and recruiters seek the right fit, and those with superior profiles often get approached. However, for those of us with multifaceted and diverse backgrounds, the journey may require extra effort. From my own experience, this is how it’s been. It’s crucial to stand as real humans behind our profiles, knowing that the right opportunities will eventually find us. In this digital world, it's easy to feel lost and overlooked but it's business, not personal. All about trusting that empathy and perseverance will lead to the right connections. 💡 #ProfessionalGrowth #Resilience #LinkedInJourney #StayMotivated #KeepPushing

Hard to swallow pill: you’re not the best candidate. In almost every job market, there’s a strong chance other candidates will outqualify you on some metric. But that doesn’t mean they’re the better hire. Companies don’t want one-trick-ponies. They want to see how your experience has shaped your approach to work. Here are 5 across-the-board qualities recruiters look for in potential candidates: 1. Communication skills → Building strong relationships with people starts and ends with clear communication. 2. Problem-solving → Analysing challenges and devising practical, implementable solutions. 3. Adaptability → Can you pivot quickly when you need to? 4. Empathy → Connecting on a human level and understanding the people behind the business. 5. Networking → How good are you at uncovering hidden talent and unique opportunities? Your diverse experiences are your USPs. Harness them to benefit yourself, the role you’re in, and ultimately, a stronger, more inclusive workforce.

The intricacies of job searching: - The 'Why' The fundamental purpose of job searching is to find work that aligns with one’s values and aspirations. This matters beyond profit because meaningful work contributes to personal fulfillment and overall well-being. The core belief driving this pursuit is that when individuals find purpose in their roles, they engage more deeply and thrive. - The 'How' Job searching brings its 'Why' to life through authentic networking and relationship-building. Rather than focusing solely on applications, candidates engage in conversations, attend industry events, and utilize platforms like LinkedIn. These unique actions allow job seekers to showcase their genuine interests and strengths, helping them connect with organizations that share their values. - The 'What' Job searching is the process of seeking employment opportunities that fit one’s skills and passions, encompassing research, applications, and networking. This process aligns with the 'Why' by prioritizing meaningful connections and with the 'How' by fostering genuine relationships that lead to fulfilling opportunities. - Conclusion Leading with 'Why' transforms job searching from a transactional effort into a purpose-driven journey. By articulating their values, candidates foster trust and loyalty with potential employers. This approach not only enhances individual appeal but also encourages organizations to recognize and value purpose-driven talent, ultimately promoting a culture of growth and collaboration.
