Grateful for Progress, Support, and You... As we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the U.S., I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Whether you’ve followed my work for a while, just connected with me, or are exploring what this whole “systems thing” is about—your time, trust, and support mean so much to me. Building something meaningful—whether it’s a business, a career, or a life that feels aligned—isn’t easy. It takes courage, creativity, and a lot of trial and error. But here’s the thing: having the right systems and the right people in your corner can make the journey feel a little less overwhelming—and a lot more doable. 📸Take this photo, for example: On the left, that’s me with my parents when my mom earned her doctorate in education from Wilmington University. On the right, that’s me with my husband, Peter, on the day I earned my Ph.D. from Penn State. These moments represent some of my family’s biggest goals—but what stands out to me even more is the support I had along the way. My family has been there through the big milestones and the small, everyday moments—the times when success felt far off, or when I just needed someone to remind me to keep going. Their support taught me that progress doesn’t happen all at once—it’s the result of persistence, patience, and the people who believe in us. That’s why I believe so strongly in creating systems that make space for what matters most—progress, connection, and moments of joy. One of my favorite systems is a simple gratitude practice that helps me stay grounded year-round: • What went well today? • Who supported or encouraged me today? • What am I excited about tomorrow? It’s small but powerful. Reflecting on these three questions has helped me focus on the good, stay connected to the people who matter, and feel optimistic about what’s ahead—even on the busiest days. Whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving or simply enjoying a regular day, it’s always a good time to pause and reflect on how far you’ve come and the people who’ve supported you along the way. What’s one thing you’re grateful for today? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to celebrate with you! Happy Thanksgiving!

🎉 Thanksgiving is over, but December has just begun. One day you look at the calendar and—BOOM! It’s December. How did we get here? No idea. Between deadlines, emails, and days that flew by, the last month of the year caught us by surprise. And while everything keeps moving, there’s one thing that helps us pause: gratitude. Gratitude not just for those who were there for you (though, of course, they deserve it!), but also for life itself. For the small moments: the unexpected laughter, the coffee that always shows up on time, the work well done, and yes—even those times when things didn’t go as planned… but left you with something to learn. ✨ Thanksgiving was a reminder, but the spirit of gratitude can last all month long. 💬 Do you have someone to thank? Mention them in the comments. React with: 👍 If you’re thankful for your team. ❤️ If you’re thankful for the small, everyday things. 👏 If you’re simply thankful for being here, right now. #gratitude #reflection #december

What Are You Grateful For This Week? Let’s Celebrate Together! Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday for as long as I can remember. There's something beautiful about the simplicity of it: ✨ Sharing a meal with the people you love most. ✨ Creating space to pause and reflect on what you're grateful for. ✨ Being present in the joy of connection and community. Gratitude has been a grounding practice in both my personal life and my work as a college advisor. In fact, every meeting I have with a student begins with this question: "What are three things you're grateful for in the past week?" It’s incredible to witness the transformation that follows. Gratitude has a way of: 🌱 Nurturing presence, resilience, and joy. 🌱 Helping teens connect with what they truly value in their lives. 🌱 Reframing their relationship with their parents, recognizing the care behind the moments that sometimes feel like nagging. And here’s the best part: It’s a ripple effect. Gratitude starts small, but it grows. Even if your teen doesn’t immediately share their appreciation, planting that seed of gratitude will nurture a deeper connection over time. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, let’s take a moment to celebrate gratitude together. ✨ What are you grateful for this week? Share in the comments—I’d love to hear your reflections and celebrate with you! Let’s fill this space with joy, connection, and appreciation. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃💛

How was your Thanksgiving? Amid the food, family, and traditions, it’s easy to feel gratitude on a day dedicated to it. But here’s the thing—gratitude doesn’t have to be reserved for holidays or special moments. What if we looked for reasons to be thankful in the ordinary—the cup of coffee, a kind word, or even a lesson learned from a challenge? Gratitude isn’t just a feeling; it’s a practice. And like any practice, the more we engage with it, the more it shapes our perspective and, ultimately, our lives. So, as the holiday glow fades, let’s keep choosing gratitude daily. What’s one small thing you’re thankful for today?

Every year at this time, I like to share the guidelines that I've created for keeping a gratitude list. I've been keeping a list since April 2014 and I have nearly 4000 entries. I find that when you are feeling good, it really helps to acknowledge the good things. And when you are feeling sad or down, it helps make you realize that there is always something to be grateful for. Here you go: 1. Entries can be big, small, minutia, important, silly, or whatever. It all counts. It's just as meaningful to be grateful for a good cup of coffee or a comfy t-shirt as it is for the health of your family or clean water. 2. Don’t think too hard about it. In other words, don't judge or edit your entries. (Spelling doesn't count here) 3. Don’t worry about repeating entries. You can be grateful for the same things on different days which makes it OK to have duplicates in your list. 4. Try to do at least 10 at each update. 20 is better. 30 is great. Once you get past 10, it really starts to flow. 5. It’s not necessary to do it every day especially if doing so creates any pressure or anxiety. But try to do it at least once per week. You can do it any time of the day. 6. The best time to do it is when you feel stressed, depressed or anxious. It’s also the hardest time. But doing so generates the greatest benefits. Happy Thanksgiving!

Reflecting on Gratitude this Thanksgiving 🍁 As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s a perfect moment to pause, reflect, and express gratitude—for both the relationships that sustain us and the opportunities we share. Thanksgiving reminds us of its origins, a time when communities came together to celebrate harvests and mutual support. Today, it serves as a reminder of the values that bring meaning to our lives: 🌟 Gratitude: Whether it’s our family, our friends, or our professional connections, this is the time to acknowledge the people and blessings that make a difference in our journeys. 🤝 Togetherness: Just as Thanksgiving historically symbolized cooperation, we value the partnerships we’ve built. To our customers, colleagues, and collaborators, thank you for being part of our story. ❤️ Generosity: Thanksgiving encourages us to think beyond ourselves—whether that’s through a kind word, an act of service, or supporting those in need. We also recognize the holiday’s deeper history, including its complex legacy for Indigenous communities. This reflection deepens our understanding of resilience, gratitude, and the importance of mutual respect. To our customers, thank you for trusting us to serve you. To our families, thank you for being the foundation that supports us. May this Thanksgiving bring joy, connection, and moments of reflection to all. What are you most grateful for this season? Share below—I’d love to hear your thoughts! #Thanksgiving #Gratitude #Community #Reflection

Thanksgiving is a great time to pause and reflect on the things we often take for granted. In the busyness of everyday life, it’s easy to get caught up in what’s not going right or what’s missing. But this season reminds us to take a step back and appreciate the simple things... the people who show up for us, the lessons we’ve learned, and the moments that bring a little light into our days. It’s not just about the big gatherings or the food on the table, though those things are nice. It’s really about the connections we have and the shared experiences that make life meaningful. Even in the midst of challenges, there’s always something to be thankful for if we look closely enough. This year, let’s not just feel grateful—let’s show it. Whether it’s a kind word, an act of generosity, or just being present for someone who needs it, we can make gratitude something we live out. After all, it’s in those small acts of kindness that we often find the most meaning. So as we come together with family or friends, or even reflect on our own, let’s carry that sense of appreciation forward. Gratitude has a way of shifting our perspective and helping us see just how much we have, even when life feels complicated. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours 🙏🏽

In a few days, loved ones of all ages will gather to be grateful! As you prepare for your Thanksgiving celebration, consider these ideas to get the different generations in your family connecting: 1. Merge the kids’ and adults’ tables. Don’t segment seating by age, instead mix generations and see what happens. Whether a grandparent shares a pearl of wisdom or a teen captures the meal on SnapChat, everyone can learn from each other! 2. Ask questions and share stories. Research shows that stories sync the brains of the storyteller and the listener. What a great way to transfer knowledge, wisdom, and legacy with those you love! Here are some conversation sparkers: · What was Thanksgiving like when you were growing up? · What is your favorite holiday memory or tradition? · Who or what are you thankful for in your life now? · Here is a special story about our family… · The quality I most appreciate about you is… 3. Do an activity together. Whether taking a walk, playing a game, or cooking together- sharing experiences creates connections and memories that can last a lifetime. Let us know if you try these tips, and what you notice about the experience! Our hope is that this Thanksgiving you and yours will gain perspective of the past and the present… and strengthen generational connections for years to come. Happy Thanksgiving! J + Dr. K
