🚗💡 California's Bold Move: Governor Newsom Vetoes Shortsighted AV Legislaiton Again! 💡🚗 Governor Gavin Newsom has vetoed AB2286, a bill that aimed to impose stricter regulations on autonomous vehicles (AVs) in California. This marks the second time the Governor has taken such a stance, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach to innovation and safety. We have stood alongside industry and association partners in opposing this type of legislation. Why This Veto is a Positive Step for the AV Industry: 1️⃣ Encourages Innovation: By vetoing AB2286, Governor Newsom is signaling California's commitment to fostering innovation in the AV sector. This decision allows companies to continue developing and testing cutting-edge technologies without the burden of overly restrictive regulations. 2️⃣ Supports Economic Growth: The AV industry has the potential to create thousands of jobs and generate significant economic activity. This veto helps ensure that California remains a hub for technological advancement and economic growth. 3️⃣ Sets a National Trend: California has always been a trendsetter in technology and regulation. This veto could influence other states to adopt a more balanced approach to AV legislation, promoting nationwide consistency and progress. 4️⃣ Commitment to Safety: AVs have the potential to significantly reduce traffic accidents caused by human error. By allowing the industry to advance, California is supporting the development of safer transportation technologies that can save lives and improve road safety. 👓Looking Ahead: As we navigate the future of autonomous vehicles, it's crucial to find the right balance between innovation and safety. What do you think is the best path forward to enable the safe and efficient operation of AVs? Should other states follow California's lead in fostering a more innovation-friendly environment? Trump Team Eyes Federal Framework for Autonomous Vehicles (TSLA) Nov. 17, 2024 President-elect Donald Trump's transition team plans to prioritize creating a federal framework for fully autonomous vehicles, Bloomberg reported. The initiative could benefit Tesla, which recently unveiled a Cybercab prototype without a steering wheel or pedals. Federal regulations currently pose serious challenges to large-scale deployment of vehicles without steering wheels or pedals. Congress is also in early discussions on a bipartisan measure to establish federal regulations for autonomous vehicles, the report added. Currently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration allows carmakers to deploy 2,500 self-driving vehicles per year under a granted exemption. Legislative attempts to increase that number to as much as 100,000 have previously failed. #TSLA #TSLAStock #TeslaStock #Tesla #ElonMusk #DonaldTrump #CyberCab #TeslaCyberCab #AutonomousVehicles #SelfDrivingCars $TSLA

We did some research as part of the Startline Used Car Tracker a couple of months ago that showed the public were not keen at all on autonomous vehicles (AV), so it’s interesting to see that the AV industry is launching a PR offensive to try and win more support. Given current attitudes, it looks like they have some distance to go. https://ow.ly/yWyi50RkYbX #Startlinemotorfinance #motorfinance #dealers #dealership #autoretail #motorindustry

The AV industry's main lobbying group recently stated that driverless cars need to gain the public's trust. With the recent accidents involving autonomous vehicles, public trust has been shaken. It's crucial for the industry to address these concerns and take proactive measures to ensure safety. But how can they earn back the trust of the public? This is a question that remains unanswered. As the AV industry continues to advance, gaining public trust is essential for its success.
