We have drawn from our 20 years of experience to design programs like the Elevate Initiative, a partnership between Frontline Solutions and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that funds organizations doing on-the-ground work to remove structural barriers and accelerate economic mobility for communities of color. Here are 5 lessons we've learned over the last three years of designing and facilitating this community of practice and learning opportunities alongside and for the Elevate grantees. 🌟 Exciting Milestone! 🌟 It is with deep appreciation and excitement for future possibilities that we announce the completion of a transformative learning partnership between Quotidian Strategies and the Black South West Network (BSWN), a leading Black-led, racial justice organisation in Bristol. Last year, we embarked on a collaborative journey to examine and document BSWN’s racial justice focused approach to community research, collaboration, influence and knowledge production. We developed three powerful outputs to underpin the development of a new theory of change, a strategic plan, a robust research approach, and an aligned evaluation framework: 📋The Learning Partnership Report – Contributions from BSWN’s team, trustees, and external stakeholders, alongside key methodological insights. 💡Learning Insights – A synthesis of contributions, integrating best practices and academic literature, with actionable insights for the future. 🧰The Toolkit – A set of resources designed as a theory for change to help BSWN change, laying the groundwork for future racial justice focused initiatives. BSWN Director, Sado Jirde said, “I see things I didn’t see before and I’m more sensitive to what we have and what we need. It’s been a powerful reflective journey. The process opened up a way of understanding our impact that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. We now have a deeper understanding of ourselves as an organisation, our relationship with our communities and wider stakeholders, and the insights and resources to help us move forward in our journey to a liberatory approach to our work. Overall the process was interrogative, challenging [at times] and creates new perspectives that shine a light on what we do." 🌱We look forward to seeing the ways Black South West Network deepens its impact. 🚀In the coming months, you can look forward to a series of learning insights and reflections from our partnership. Thank you Dr. Susila Davis-Singaravelu and Dr Zainab Kabba for a partnership well done! #learningpartnership #collaboration #racialjustice #quotidianstrategies

Well, my goodness me … what a thought-provoking and interesting session that was. A couple of years’ ago, in a bid to add as much value to our community as possible, and to support education and awareness around the subject of equity, diversity and inclusion, we launched our ‘knowledge session’ series of live webinars. Yesterday’s session was number six, and focused on the BOOST project run by Manchester Metropolitan University in collaboration with Greater Manchester Housing Providers with the aim of championing change for black, Asian and minoritised ethnic leadership within the social housing sector. This was prompted by the findings of the Cabe Report in 2018, which concluded that the housing sector was overwhelmingly led by white people, despite the ‘customer base’ (i.e. the tenants) bring predominantly from a different ethnic background and culture. It seemed obvious to me that, whilst the social housing is different in many ways to transport, we share the same challenges in terms of representation and diversity at leadership level … hence inviting Julia Rouse , Professor of Decent Work & Productivity at MMU and Elaine Johnson Director of People at Great Places Housing Group to join me as guest speakers yesterday so that we can learn from their knowledge and experience. As always, the webinar was recorded and will be available ‘on demand’ on our website and social channels over the next few days … I’m just going to leave you with a question and a quote from yesterday, which have been buzzing in my head ever since Julia said them:- ❓When did you first realise you were white? ➡️ We’re a bit too comfortable and a bit too polite; unpalatable truth needs to be spoken (if we are to make the change happen) Thank you to everyone who joined us for the live webinar - I’d love to hear your takeaways too! #ethnicityinleadership #diverseleadership #equity #learning #awareness #webinar

In an elevator speech, How quickly & accurately could you explain your purpose in business or non-profit or sports while holding a burning match between your two fingers? It is too easy to drift with too much information that somebody doesn't want to hear and we don't even recognize the signals. but if you can cover your point with the least number of words and then let your listener ask for more information, now you've engaged at least their interest and maybe also their imagination.

We're fostering a constructive dialogue between students, faculty, and business. Together, we are producing world-improving outcomes for everyone. At today's Winter Exhibition, students in our experiential learning classes demonstrated this by showing the results of their partnerships with leading corporations and nonprofits. Missed it? Watch this video. In it, several of the business leaders who attended today's event - Matt McQueen, Donna Hurwitt, CEcD, Deborah Gandy, Jeff Shen (BS Management Information Systems, 1996), Loren Rufino (BS Health Science, 2012), Julie Coons, and Chris Preston (BS Business Management, 1996) - describe the difference that the Honors College makes. Our students are learning skills crucial to the development of tomorrow's workforce. Give today. Many thanks to Jose Banzon and the whole WHITE64 team for their help creating this video!
