#Repost from @dannymoore.24 ✈️ It’s “Take Your Mom to Work Day!” I feel so lucky to be living my childhood dream of flying big jets across the country. But it’s even more special when I get to share that experience with the ones who made this dream possible at all. A huge thank you to my mom for taking a Friday night off to join me on 2 of my flights from Denver to Los Angeles, and Los Angeles to San Francisco.

A great story paints a picture, it tugs on the heartstrings, shows us innovation, kindness, and faith in humankind. This story struck emotions in me, wanting me to read more till the very end. And then I read it again. Creating organic and personalize stories with your customers is not any different from this one. It may not start with “once upon a time”, but it creates the same curiosity and emotions. It captures the reader, they want to learn more, and it highlights a fantastic customer’s journey. Connect with YP Marketing LLC to start that journey.

Jack was about to fly home from New York to London when he met Violet at the gate and became her friend. Violet, an 88-year-old former nurse, was flying home after visiting her daughter, and she had never been able to afford an expensive first-class ticket. It was a dream of hers to do that someday. When it was time to board, Jack walked with Violet onto the plane, insisted that she take his first-class seat, and then went to the very back of the plane next to the restrooms, and sat in hers. Stewardess Leah Amy found out about the switch and reported the story (these photos are hers), saying, "Jack never said a word or asked for anything. Of all the people I've met on hundreds of flights, including soccer players, supermodels, and movie stars, these two have been my favorite passengers." Credit: Daniel D.Lay

My recent flight to Blenheim, with a layover in Wellington, provided me with the perfect opportunity to reflect on business strategies and our current focus at Varntige. During those 3 hours in the air, I was able to generate some new ideas. It's crucial to carve out time for 'business idea thinking', especially for active individuals like me with constantly buzzing minds. The experience served as a valuable reminder to schedule dedicated moments in the week for undistracted thought time. Turning off my phone and immersing myself in deep business thinking is where I truly shine – after all, I am the ideas person. Let this serve as a gentle nudge for you too. Take a moment to assess where your strengths lie and ensure you allocate ample time to nurture them without unnecessary distractions - emails, phone calls & messages💡 #focus #businessowner #businessideas #flighttime #virtualassistant

The Sunday after "CrowdStrike Day", I was flying from Minneapolis to home. We didn't have a copilot, so it looked like we were not getting out of town until the following Wednesday. That's right, all the flights home were cancelled/booked and the earliest was Wednesday. We sat from noon until 9:00PM, when a Delta Air Lines pilot, who was deadheading home on a flight at an adjacent gate, and after hearing what was going on, volunteered to copilot our flight. It took a couple of hours of their operations center to approve the move, but when they did, we got off the ground and home. I've thought about that a lot recently. How that pilot was engaged in Delta's mission. Things were bad, and he could help. So he chose to. Others might have taken the opportunity to just head home and get out of the craziness. Others might not have not have put two and two together to see how they could have made a difference in that situation. In the end, what Delta Air Lines and that pilot did not only got us home, but it changed my mind about the airline from neutral to positive. I have seen some behaviors and comments about younger generations being skeptical and jaundiced to working for organizations. Doing only the required work, and being vigilant that the organization they work for not overstep. To a degree, I am okay with that. I believe in the fair value exchange for labor. I do work, you gimme money. But there comes a point where you have to realize that stepping up is good for the well being of the organization and your rewards & future with it. If that pilot passes on the flight and tucks in at home, there's ~200 people and their families that might not choose that airline first anymore. Multiply that over 100 to 1000 pilots, and it starts to make a real difference to the fortunes of the organization that provides your income. Finding that balance, and being an organization that holds true to its values regarding work life balance will ensure that you have the reserve of commitment that Delta Air Lines had that night in Minneapolis. Many thanks to the crew and ground support staff in Minneapolis. Y'all were champs that day.

What's the best sales kickoff theme you've ever seen? Best speakers? Most fun elements? I was brainstorming with a CMO yesterday and mentioned that I'd done multiple "Space" themes given a company's momentum and trajectory, two "Cruise" themes since 1Password took early employees on cruises, and then moved the cruise online in 2020. Sometimes the cheesier, the funnier, the better (depending on your company culture.) I know Latané Conant (she/her) sponsored a fun "airplane stewardess drink cart" once at a partner sales kickoff... "How can we make this more fun?" is her motto, which I've tried to embrace. Ideas for this year? #PlanningKickoffsAlready #themes #makeitfun
