I see more and more companies are look out for Medical Billers, who can do credentialing as well (So they don't need to hire Credentialing Specialists as a separate) any more. I feel like in future, Credentialing specialist role might be merged with Medical Billing Specialist. So how we can get ourselves prepared for that? 1- Start learning credentialing if you are biller and start learning billing if you are credentialing specialist. 2- Starting point for learning billing would be understanding of Eligibility and Benefits and starting point of learning credentialing would be understanding of basic terminologies used in credentialing domain. What do you think about it? Premium Credentialing Batch starting August 10. #credentialing #providerenrollment #Medicalbilling #training

What Is Medical Billing and Coding? Medical billing and coding keep revenue flowing through the U.S. healthcare system. At the highest level, medical billing and coding professionals streamline the reimbursement cycle to ensure providers are paid for their services and that patients are billed correctly. Medical billers and coders keep patient records, calculate charges and review files. They handle insurance claims accurately and efficiently. Medical billers then determine which codes end up on a patient’s bill for third-party billing purposes.

“Trust but verify” is a crucial principle in the medical coding and billing world. While everyone aims to do a good job, it’s essential to go beyond just complying with mandated OIG audits. Conducting additional audits of your coding and billing processes is vital. Is someone monitoring your adjustments and denials? Are payers denying claims that should be paid, and is your staff unknowingly writing them off because they aren’t fully aware of the rules, regulations, or the billing processes of your practice? Ensure your staff receives adequate training, support, and re-training when necessary. Feedback is an opportunity to learn, and learning helps grow your knowledge in the field. www.akmbcs.com

The Dilemma of Multiple Certifications for New CPC-As: Experience vs. Credential Accumulation In the evolving landscape of healthcare administration, the role of medical coders is increasingly crucial. These professionals ensure accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses for billing purposes, insurance claims, and data analysis. Among the certifications sought after by aspiring coders is the Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) designation, a stepping stone toward becoming a full-fledged Certified Professional Coder (CPC). However, a pertinent question arises: should a new CPC-A pursue multiple certifications without substantial experience to substantiate them?
