🎄The season of giving is here and FREENOW Greece is partnering with Το Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού - The Smile of the Child to make a difference! Since 2016, we’ve proudly worked with The Smile of the Child to provide vital support to children in need. Together, we’ve helped over 1,000 children access taxi rides to reach doctors and therapists. This holiday season, we’re making it even easier for our users to join us in spreading smiles. 💛 From December 1st, through the Round Up and Donate feature in the app, passengers in Greece can now round up the cost of their ride to the nearest euro and donate the difference directly to The Smile of the Child. This simple act helps meet the growing needs of the organization and directly supports children in need. Additionally, the FREENOW team recently had the opportunity to tour the organisation’s premises, and a cooperation agreement was signed, solidifying our ongoing commitment to this important cause. President of The Smile of the Child, Costas Yannopoulos, expressed his gratitude: “We warmly thank the company FREENOW for participating for another year in the efforts of our organization. Through their trust, we can meet the needs of children and adolescents, ensuring they can attend medical appointments, whether scheduled or emergency, with complete safety. Furthermore, our new collaboration with the Round Up and Donate feature allows FREENOW to make a significant contribution to meeting the ever-growing needs of the organization.” Aspasia Topalidou, General Manager FREENOW Greece, added: “We are proud to continue supporting the invaluable work of The Smile of the Child. Through the Round Up and Donate feature, we empower our users to actively participate in making a meaningful difference in a simple and impactful way. This collaboration is a testament to our ongoing commitment to being a positive force in society and contributing to the well-being of children who need it most.” Small contributions can create countless smiles. 😊 #SmileOfTheChild #MakeADifference #FREENOWGreece #FREENOW

The impact of geographic isolation on healthcare access is a growing concern, and it’s compounded by the fact that conditions like endometriosis require not just basic treatments but long-term care and specialised support. Endometriosis is a chronic condition that affects many aspects of a person’s life. It doesn’t get better with a quick fix, and often, the journey to diagnosis can be long, frustrating, and isolating. In cities, healthcare providers may be more familiar with endometriosis and have better access to resources, but for women in rural or remote areas, the situation is far more challenging. They may have limited access to specialised care, face longer wait times, and struggle to get the support they need from health professionals who might not be familiar with this condition. A $58 donation could help train nurses in rural and remote areas, ensuring they can better recognise and understand the signs of endometriosis, and providing timely support and guidance. With better education and resources, nurses and other healthcare providers can play a pivotal role in improving early diagnosis and empowering women to seek the treatment they need. Imagine the difference this knowledgeable care could make for those women who would otherwise have to travel long distances, take time off work, and face financial strain, just to receive proper care. Empowering local healthcare professionals with the right knowledge about endometriosis means that women in rural and remote areas could receive better care without having to leave their communities. It’s a reminder that sometimes, even small donations can have a lasting, meaningful impact on the health and well-being of those who are often overlooked. Everyone deserves access to proper healthcare—no matter where they live — your small contribution can help make that a reality.
💛 This Giving Day, I'm reaching out to share a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart. My name is Tash, and I’m an EndoChampion from Port Lincoln, a regional town seven hours from Adelaide. Living in a remote area with limited access to specialist healthcare has made my journey with endometriosis a long and difficult one. But it’s also what drives me to make a difference in my community. For years, I struggled with misdiagnoses, delays, and the added burden of travel costs for specialist appointments, all while missing out on important life events. The lack of proper support and knowledge in regional areas has made this journey even harder for me and many others. But we can change that. The thought of helping people in my community get the right support, early on, drives me to support Endometriosis Australia’s Christmas Appeal. Imagine if local nurses were properly trained to identify the symptoms of endometriosis sooner. The difference this could make is huge – it could lead to earlier diagnoses, better care, and a brighter future for so many people, especially in regional and remote areas. This Giving Day, you can be part of this change Just $58 will fund one day of specialised training for a nurse – and that’s the first step towards better care for countless people in regional communities like mine. With your donation, we can bridge the gap in healthcare access and ensure no one has to wait years for the support they need. Please consider donating today to help us get nurses trained and bring specialist care to communities across Australia. Thank you for supporting this vital cause. Together, we can make a real difference. 🔗 https://shorturl.at/VU0aX #Endometriosis #EndoChampion #GivingDay #Donate #EndometriosisAwareness #RegionalCare #SupportEndoNurses #GivingTuesday

Every year, the Flight Centre Foundation donates to 5 deserving charities through our ‘Giving Grants’ program. These charities are voted for by our people, hand selected from a long list of many other deserving applicants. As each of our Giving Grants winners are doing incredible work, we want to spotlight each of them over the next few weeks to raise awareness on how they’re making an incredible change to people’s lives and within our community. Today, we're putting the spotlight on Southern Cross Kids' Camps. ❤ Who? Southern Cross Kids' Camps ❤ What? This wonderful organisation runs 5-day camps every year, specifically designed to interrupt the trauma-abuse-neglect cycle that can occur within primary school aged children. These camps create a safe space where children can foster hope again, as well as meet new friends and make positive memories they can reflect on for years to come. ❤ When? Southern Cross Kids Camps happen once a year and they go for a duration of 5 days. You can find out when their next camp is taking place here: https://sckc.org.au/camps/ ❤ Where? Southern Cross Kids Camps are currently operating in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Northern Territory. ❤ Why? The impact 5 days of enrichment and fun can have on a child is exponential and stretches far beyond the 5 days duration of the camp. It not only creates a positive environment for them to thrive and have fun - but it builds their self-esteem, resilience, ability to trust others and an overall sense of community. ❤ How? If you’re wanting to get involved or see how you can help contribute to the lives of neglected children, head to https://sckc.org.au/ today. #FlightCentre #FlightCentreTravelGroup #ProudToBeFCTG

The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme introduced by the police in partnership with other agencies, which encourages people living with dementia and carers to compile useful information which could be used in the event of a vulnerable person going missing. The form should be completed in advance, and all vital details, such as medication required, mobile numbers, places previously located, a photograph, etc., should be recorded. If a family member or friend goes missing, the form can be easily handed to the police to reduce the time taken to gather this information. ❔ When should the form be sent to the police? 👉 The police only need the form when the person is reported missing. There is no need to hand it to the police before then. ❔ Where should the form be stored? 👉 It should be stored securely, in accordance with data protection laws, but where it can be accessed quickly. ❔ What should a caregiver do if the person goes missing? 👉 After you have conducted an 'open door' search of the address, grounds, and outbuildings and you believe a person is missing, alert the police as soon as possible. If you believe the missing person is at a high risk of harm, please call 999. Tell the police operator that there is a Herbert Protocol person profile. If you're deaf or hard of hearing, use the textphone service 18000 or text on 999 if you’ve pre-registered with the emergencySMS service. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eVXb8GHQ #herbertprotocol #charity #dementiasupport #carersupport
Our new Herbert Protocol website is nearing completion. Soon, we will be ready to launch our project to create a free, secure, and easily accessible national database. This platform will allow people living with dementia (PLWD) or their caregivers to store a digital version of the Herbert Protocol form. The goal is to make this information available and accessible for emergency services, ensuring a quick and safe return for PLWD who may get lost or confused about their location. https://lnkd.in/eWcfft2x #herbertprotocol #dementiasupport #charity
