Today, I had the opportunity to discuss a important topic with Jerry Agar on Newstalk 1010 right after Premier Doug Ford's conversation about the potential tunnel under Highway 401. I highlighted the security risks associated with imported EVs - some of which may travel through that very tunnel if built. The US has recently announced a possible ban on Chinese or Russian EV imports due to security reasons (source: https://lnkd.in/gwY6Ak9C). EVs, like other connected cars, present several security challenges: - Surveillance risks through sensors like cameras, microphones, and location data. - Potential remote disabling, as illustrated by recent incidents such as the Cybertruck's purported remote disablement (source: https://lnkd.in/g4hzkF7a). - Safety concerns related to their power and lithium-ion batteries, which could pose risks if safety features are compromised. It's crucial for governments and regulators to weigh these factors carefully when shaping policies and decisions. Stay informed by listening to the podcast for further insights (source: https://lnkd.in/gqKDKryD). #EVs #Security #Regulation #Newstalk1010 Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology I Humber Polytechnic Humber FAST
