𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 With an ageing population, heart attacks pose a critical challenge, especially among those aged 75+. Historically underrepresented in clinical trials, older adults face unique risks like frailty and multimorbidity. Through groundbreaking research, including the NIHR ICON1 study and the ongoing SENIOR-RITA trial at 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, we are transforming care for older heart attack patients. Our findings have influenced 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, paving the way for personalised treatments. SENIOR-RITA, the world’s largest trial in this area, will define optimal strategies to improve outcomes for this underserved group. In celebration of 🌍 World Stroke Day 2024 🌍 Hunter Medical Research Heart and Stroke Research Program, together with the City of Newcastle, Australia and Lord Mayor Ross Kerridge, hosted a morning tea yesterday.
