🎄 For the past 17 years, we have given back to local heroes during the holidays as a way to thank them for their incredible commitment to the nation and their community. In southwest Florida, we honored first responders in Manatee and Sarasota counties who went above and beyond during Hurricanes Helene and Milton. ✨ #CommunityStrong #HappyHolidays #FPLCares

Disasters, both natural and human-caused, can be devastating for Black and other communities that often exist in marginalized spaces that contend with historical injustice and systemic inequities. Extreme stress and trauma are common experiences post-disaster layering on top of pre-existing challenges. This is why All Healers Mental Health Alliance (AHMHA) exists - to facilitate culturally grounded assistance to people affected by crises from Hurricane Katrina to Superstorm Sandy, to the Flint Water Crisis, to the Buffalo Massacre, to the Mississippi tornadoes, and the Maui Wildfires. AHMHA does its work by collaborating with Black and other communities of color, the Black Resilience Network, FEMA, and other organizations and agencies to identify resources to support disaster preparedness, response, and recovery and to promote mental health and emotional well-being, safety, connectedness, and holistic thriving.

"As the weather warms and the days lengthen, the familiar signs of spring begin to emerge. A time of growth and transition, the spring welcomes a mosaic of life and activity, perhaps best exemplified by the return of migratory birds." ✍Kyle Dahlquist, Clean Water Corpsmember / AmeriCorps Member placed at Pennington SWCD https://lnkd.in/gfxi8yfF #GetThingsDone #ClimateCareers #EnvironmentalCareers #ConservationCareers #ServiceYear #CareerExperience #YearOutdoors #ServeOutdoors [Image Description] Two swans in a wetland, text on the side reads "New Blog Post"

It takes coordination, teamwork, and dedication to respond safely and effectively to emergencies like the recent hurricanes. Literally thousands of individuals from hundreds of electric cooperatives across the nation have had a hand in the response to hurricanes Helene and Milton. It’s yet another example of being able to accomplish together things we simply can’t do alone. Here’s the story of how Ohio co-ops answered the call of duty following this year’s hurricanes 👉 https://bit.ly/3C6dkP7.

🌧️💔 In a heartbreaking turn of events, around 200 tombstones at the Wheeling Mt. Zion Cemetery in West Virginia were washed away by mud and rain during recent powerful storms. The cemetery, which is home to thousands of graves, including 400+ veterans, has been deeply affected. Volunteers and community members are rallying together to assess the damage and help with restoration efforts. ⚠️ Although the physical destruction is extensive, it's reassuring to know that the caskets remain intact. Now, the focus is on recovering and restoring the damaged tombstones to ensure families can locate their loved ones' resting places amidst the aftermath. 📂 This situation highlights the importance of maintaining accurate, secure cemetery records. Digital records can serve as a vital backup in such events. At All Funeral Services (AFS), we specialize in digitizing cemetery records, safeguarding them from physical harm, and making them accessible in emergencies. Transitioning to digital record-keeping helps cemeteries protect their valuable historical data and provides peace of mind for families and staff alike. 🌐 For more information on how we can help digitize and protect your cemetery’s records, visit our website or contact us directly. In times of crisis, having a reliable digital backup can make all the difference. #CemeteryRestoration #Digitization #CemeteryManagement
