On this day in 2019, I made the decision to give up on my degree because I was not enjoying it, and I remember a colleague telling me that if I gave up on that college, it would be very difficult to find a job in the future. 🤦🏻♀️ Fast forward to last month, I finished my internship to become a Project Manager at Siemens —my first big girl job! 🥳 Here are the lessons that I want to carry with me into the future! 1. 👩🏻💻It’s OK Not to Have Any Experience This was my very first experience in the working world; no one expects you to know everything. You’re a trainee, not a senior. 👍🏻 2. 🙋🏻♀️Be Assertive and Confident This is the most important piece of advice: if you created something or learned about a process, you’re the most capable person to speak about it. Sometimes, it’s all about confidence—even very experienced people don’t know everything. 👀 3.🫡 Demand Respect Just because you’re a trainee doesn’t mean your voice doesn’t count. 🗣️ 4. ✅ Trust That You’re Doing Better Than You Think Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, and remember to stop and smell the roses.🌹 5. 📈 Start Learning New Skills Early in College I wish I had started learning Excel and improving my PowerPoint skills back in college. The public speaking courses I took were very useful. 👩🏻🎓 Don’t forget to be yourself. It doesn’t matter if you’re a shy or outgoing person; you have something valuable to offer. ✨ And, of course, make your own decisions. Imagine if I had followed the ‘advice’ from my colleague! 😉

This journey has been nothing short of transformative! 😊 Over the past two months, I've had the privilege to work on "Cloud Cost Optimization and Security Analysis"—key areas that are shaping the future of digital governance in India. I have completed the “Accenture Introduction to Technology Apprenticeship” Job Simulation course offered by Forage. While applying for Degree Apprenticeships, I’ve been curious about what I would be doing day-to-day as a degree apprentice. Although there has been an introduction to what you would be doing on the job and learning about on the application overview, this was only a brief introduction. This course was the perfect way to know what I would be involved in as a degree apprentice. By completing this course, I have been able to extend my problem-solving and data analysis skills as well as present my ideas in a realistic context while learning about technology-based solutions such as cloud computing. For those considering a degree apprenticeship, completing the "Accenture Introduction to Technology Apprenticeship" Job Simulation course offers valuable insights. Through engaging with realistic scenarios, participants can gain a clear understanding of the work responsibilities involved in a degree apprenticeship and the impact of their contributions. In the simulation I: - Engaged in a dynamic dialogue as a technology apprentice at Accenture, exploring the attributes of successful technology apprentices, the versatile applications of technology across industries, and cutting-edge technology streams in collaboration with a senior counterpart. - Demonstrated active participation through the completion of targeted multiple-choice questions, reinforcing practical comprehension of key themes discussed during the apprentice dialogue. This interactive approach enhanced the depth of understanding. - Applied problem-solving skills by delving into a client case study and identifying shortcomings in existing processes that hindered effective business operations. - Conducted a detailed analysis and advocated for the adoption of cloud computing as the optimal technology solution to address the identified challenges. - Showcased practical expertise by preparing and presenting a compelling slide deck to senior management at Accenture.
