🌎🌾 FoodTech 500 alum's new tool helps manufacturers accurately report their environmental impact. US-based sustainability intelligence platform HowGood has introduced FieldScope, a new tool to help food companies measure and report the environmental impact of farming practices. The platform bridges the gap between agricultural methods and corporate sustainability reporting, providing instant calculations for practices like no-till farming and fertilizer use. With FieldScope, companies can: 👉 Identify reduction opportunities and work with suppliers on targeted improvements 👉 Accurately calculate product and corporate carbon footprints 👉 Account for regenerative practices and carbon removals With food systems contributing 34% of global greenhouse gas emissions, solutions like this are key to real change. HowGood aims to make FieldScope widely accessible to set a new industry standard in environmental reporting. Are Your Sustainability Metrics Built on Real Data or Just Assumptions? We are seeing that food and beverage companies worldwide are relying on industry averages and theoretical models rather than actual field data to measure their environmental impact. It's not uncommon to find major corporations making sustainability commitments based on estimates and proxies - while real, measurable data is available through modern technology. In practice, in our quest to promote sustainable farming, we're operating on assumptions rather than evidence. Here's what's really happening: - Companies are making critical decisions based on generalized data that doesn't reflect the unique conditions of their supply chains - Environmental impact assessments are using regional averages instead of actual field measurements - Valuable opportunities for targeted improvements are being missed due to lack of real data - Sustainability initiatives are being designed without the benefit of field-level insights The future of agricultural sustainability shouldn't be about assumptions and averages. It should be about leveraging technology to measure what matters, and where it matters. Because you can't improve what you can't measure, and you can't measure what you don't track at the source. Is the Path to Agricultural Sustainability Paved with Endless Surveys? We are seeing that farmers worldwide are spending more time proving their sustainability than implementing sustainable practices. It's not uncommon to find farms completing several different sustainability surveys each month - all asking for nearly identical information in slightly different formats. De facto, in our quest to promote sustainable farming, we're creating an unsustainable administrative burden. Here's what's happening on the ground: - Farmers are spending countless hours providing the same data about water usage, fertilizer applications, and labor practices to different certification bodies - Food and beverage companies are maintaining multiple systems to track overlapping sustainability requirements - Valuable time that could be spent on actual sustainability initiatives is being consumed by redundant paperwork But there's a better way forward. At Agritask, we're addressing this challenge head-on by streamlining repetitive questions into a single, efficient data collection process. When farmers can provide their sustainability data just once, in one place, it not only reduces their burden - it actually improves data quality and consistency. The future of agricultural sustainability shouldn't be about filling out more forms. It should be about enabling farmers to focus on what they do best: growing food sustainably. #sustainability #certifications #datacollection #foodsupplychain

Agriculture is in the middle of a strategic shift to solve its biggest challenges, meaning that the #foodsystems that help nourish the world also hold the potential to improve it. At #Syngenta we have long recognized the critical role we play tapping into that potential, working with farmers, suppliers, value chain partners and various other stakeholders around the world to develop innovative #agtech solutions for #sustainableagriculture. We have now taken our sustainability work a step further, and I am excited about the launch of our 4 new sustainability priorities that do not stand alone, but are deeply embedded in our #business #strategy. Each of our four sustainability priorities have clear, transparent, #sciencebasedtargets to drive positive change in agriculture: 1. Higher yields, lower impact 🌻🌽🌾 2. Regenerating soil and nature 🌍🌎 3. Improve rural prosperity 👩🌾🧑🌾 4. Sustainable operations 🏭📉 From enhancing climate resilience to enabling #regenerativeagriculture, we're passionate about sustainable farming that benefits growers, consumers, and planet Earth. At the heart of Signature Agri Investments, we recognize the pivotal role of Agtech in driving sustainability and combating climate change. Our focus on carbon sequestration and climate resilience has led us to embrace and invest in innovative Agtech trends that not only promise a sustainable future for agriculture but also offer tangible environmental and economic benefits. Here are the core Agtech trends we are championing within our impact strategy: 🌱 Regenerative Farming Practices 🌾: By implementing regenerative agriculture, we aim to transform farms into carbon sinks, capturing CO2 from the atmosphere and storing it in soil and plant matter. This approach not only combats climate change but also revitalizes soil health, enhancing crop resilience and productivity. Precision Agriculture and Intelligent Logistics 🚜💡: Leveraging precision-farming technology, we optimize the application of inputs (water, fertilizers, pesticides) to reduce waste and emissions. Intelligent logistic solutions ensure that our supply chain operates efficiently, minimizing our carbon footprint from field to market. Transparent Impact Measurement and Reporting 📊: Adhering to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations, we ensure that our impact on carbon sequestration and emission reduction is measurable, monitored, and transparently reported. This accountability allows investors and stakeholders to clearly see the environmental benefits of their investments.Measuring and knowing all of this, allows the farm to focus on the most critical items that will have the greatest impact on achieving these goals. CO2 Credits and Financial Incentives 💰🌍: Our effective carbon sequestration practices not only contribute to the global fight against climate change but also generate CO2 credits. These credits offer a novel financial model, allowing investors to benefit from trading or retiring emission rights. Moreover, linking carried interest to carbon targets incentivizes stakeholders to achieve and exceed sustainability goals. By integrating these Agtech trends into our investment strategy, Signature Agri Investments is at the forefront of creating impactful, sustainable, and resilient agricultural systems. Our commitment to carbon sequestration and climate resilience not only addresses the urgent challenges of climate change but also opens up new opportunities for growth, innovation, and sustainability in the agricultural sector. #beyondfarming #agtech #resilientagriculture #impact #innovation #agriculturesector #climateresilience

Breaking down the path to sustainable food systems through #RegenerativeAgriculture Today, our #food system is in crisis. Not only does the food sector contribute to one-third of global #GHGemissions, but it also drives nutrient runoff, synthetic chemical use, and significant #biodiversity loss. These environmental impacts stem largely from agricultural practices, where over 70% of emissions occur “behind the farm gate.” For corporates and consumers, this broken system presents both a challenge and a unique opportunity to rebuild with sustainable solutions. But regenerative agriculture offers a path forward. It is estimated that if just under half of the land that is currently available for regenerative agriculture were to transition, it could result in a total reduction of up to 23 gigatonnes of CO2e by 2050. Supporting regenerative agriculture delivers extensive benefits for both companies and farmers. Companies can achieve measurable sustainability goals, reducing Scope 3 emissions and increasing resilience across their #supplychains. Farmers can benefit financially from #carboncredits and ecosystem service payments while adopting long-term, resilient practices. Together, these benefits drive a shift towards a healthier food system and foster positive environmental change. Agreena https://lnkd.in/dZFTVivw
