🏅 Hackathon Update: How I Missed the round but Still Got the Certificate! 😅 So, here’s the story: I was all geared up for the round of the great Appsec hackathon—laptop charged, snacks ready, and a playlist of motivational rap to keep the energy high. But, in a plot twist worthy of a Netflix series, life happened, and I couldn’t attend round two. But guess what? The universe (and the organisers) still blessed me with a certificate! 🎉 💻💡Lesson learned: Sometimes, your code doesn’t need to compile to make an impact. To all my fellow hackers who made it through all the rounds, you’re the real MVPs. And to everyone who missed a round (or two) but still got the swag, we’re living proof that showing up is half the battle... or sometimes, not even showing up at all! 😂 Looking forward to the next challenge—where I’ll actually attend all the rounds. 🚀 Week 5 at VFXTalk! 🚀 I’m back from a week-long vacation to see some exciting developments! It’s the perfect 40th birthday present to see that our VFXTalk Discord community has doubled in size, jumping from 53 during week 3 to 156 members last week! It was thrilling to see all the growth, so much so that Discord's automated security protocols momentarily mistook it for a "raid" event, lol. But it was nothing more than the power of grassroots efforts and word-of-mouth. This experience underscored a valuable lesson. Rebuilding something as great as VFXTalk once was is a marathon and it’s absolutleyworth doing. It's about brick by brick and there are no shortcuts. Let's keep the momentum going and I can’t wait to see what it looks like in a year’s time. Bredec Group Bredec Group Show HN: My Biggest SideQuest So Far: Hey HN, I started SideQuests last year and built it from scratch. It's an experience-sharing platform encouraging users to get outside and interact with their communities. 6 brutal months of basically solo dev and now we're here, testing with about 300 users, with an iOS app on the near horizon. I built SideQuests because social media platforms are destroying our minds and culture. SideQuests is my attempt at shifting how we share and interact with each other's experiences.
