The Royal Navy has begun using virtual reality training simulators that will help sailors to learn warships operations. Lt Cdr Gavin Lowe said: "Over my time training the Royal Navy I've seen an uplift in technology, but this is a generational leap forward and frankly a different game entirely. The new simulators are fantastic. The debriefing - allowing to accurately run through what's just happened - is a game-changer when it comes to training navigators and bridge teams." #VR #VRTraining #VirtualReality #VirtualRealityTraining #SimulationBasedTraining #TrainingSimulator #OperatorTrainingSimulator #OTS

The Royal Navy is using virtual reality (VR) to train sailors for warships. They set up nine VR #simulators across the UK, including big ones with wrap-around screens and smaller ones with regular screens. These simulators copy the control rooms of real warships and show important places where sailors will work. This new technology cost $27 million, and it's a big improvement in training for the Navy. Before this, the Navy had simulators for about 30 years, but these new ones are much better. Now, sailors can practice navigating in #VR, which helps them learn faster and better. The Navy put some simulators in different places like Dartmouth and Scotland so more sailors can use them. Trainees say it feels like being in a real ship, which makes learning more fun and effective. Perhaps war itself can become a simulation to save lives and resources. Engaging like that in the #metaverse could be a win for #humanity and the planet - one can wish I guess.

Vegvisir has supplied the Australian Army with Vegvisir’s Mixed Reality based situational awareness solution to enhance its sensor systems and to enable Army to explore whether mixed reality improves the efficiency of platforms the Australian Army has converted to uncrewed and optionally crewed vehicles. Vegvisir’s situational awareness system uses vehicle-mounted cameras, an immersive headset, and supplementary data overlay capability to provide operators a comprehensive ultra-low latency 360-degree view of the surrounding environment. According to Vegvisir’s CEO Ingvar Pärnamäe, there is an untapped innovative potential of retrofitting novel technologies to out-of-service or outdated equipment, adding significant value. “Instead of sending the obsolete equipment to the junkyard, its life-span can be extended. With hundreds of thousands of armoured platforms produced and phased out globally, there exists a substantial market opportunity to repurpose these assets for uncrewed or optionally crewed capabilities,” he said. #AVRT Military features and benefits #2 - Natural Actions and Movements. This one's simple - Soldiers who can train naturally, with intuitive movements and actions, will focus on the content and the drill far more rapidly than if they have to learn how to use the training delivery tool first. For AVRT's users, that means free-roam movement, familiar weapons and equipment and a near-zero adaption time time to the system. info@avrt.training or avrt.training on the web for more information. #VRtraining #XRtraining #MilitaryTraining #Training #Simulation #XR #VR Andy Higgs John Gladman

If we face a tech-driven battle tomorrow, will India be able to win it? In today’s world, wars are no longer just about strength, they’re about technology too! While India has a strong military presence, we should be ready to face the tech-heavy challenges of modern warfare. Let's see how integrating AR-VR can make a difference in warfare: 📍VR in military training - VR simulations offer safe, cost-effective training for risky scenarios. Pilots using VR have cut training times by 75%. Shouldn't our forces benefit too? 📍Improving equipment with VR - VR helps simulate wear and tear in tough conditions, leading to better, more durable military equipment, vital for the diverse terrains our army operates in. 📍Collaboration through VR - VR allows teams to work together on real-time 3D models, speeding up innovation and enhancing coordination, especially when partnering with other nations. Countries like the US have already integrated VR and similar technologies into their military training, equipment design, and operations. If India wants to remain competitive on the global stage, we need to step up our tech game. The goal of all these advances is simple, ensuring the safety and security of our people. And it's time we take the necessary steps to stay ahead. #ar #vr #defence #indianarmy #military

VR in military training holds tremendous potential to transform how soldiers are prepared for real-world operations. By simulating complex, high-risk environments without exposing personnel to actual dangers, it allows soldiers to refine their skills repeatedly in a controlled and safe setting. This not only conserves time and effort but also reduces the logistical burden and resource requirements of large-scale physical drills and mobilization. VR offers a tailored training experience, customized for specific missions, making it especially valuable for a country like India, where diverse terrain and unique security challenges demand scalable and cost-effective solutions. Additionally, integrating VR with emerging technologies like AI can create even more immersive, data-driven training programs. During unprecedented situations like the COVID-19 pandemic, when physical training was restricted, VR could have provided a cutting-edge alternative, ensuring uninterrupted training and operational readiness.
