Times are tough for so many, and only becoming tougher due to the cost of living. Irrelevant whether that maybe for your friends, your families or people who you have yet to cross paths with. No family should have to choose between keeping themselves/ their families warm and feeding themselves or their kids. Charities such as MK Community Foundation do a wonderful job of helping people in need of a helping hand. Read the article below and if you can help, please do. It is easy to forget or choose to ignore the stresses and strains in people's lives. Some may even choose to hide it for their own personal reasons which is especially true when it comes to finances. Please, check in on people, that 'hello' to a stranger, or the 'how are you' to a friend or acquaintance maybe all that is required to brighten someone's day. Strike up that conversation, normalise that, not being okay, IS okay and that there is support without judgement available. Financial pressures so often lead to mental health difficulties. Be kind. Be caring. Be a good person. Where possible please help.

It's uncomfortable because we know we ought do more than give a couple dollars, but we're also worried our donation will be wasted on an addiction. When Helping Hurts explains that most (well-intended!) Christian charity work creates more harm than good. When we paint homes for able-bodied people, when we give out free food to families capable of working for themselves (and so on), we reinforce dependency instead of helping people to rise up to self-sufficiency.
