🚨FOOD INDUSTRY NEWS🚨 Starbucks Workers United members at a number of stores in Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle are set today in the first wave of actions in an escalating, multi-day strike. The union called the strike in response to outstanding unfair labor practices, with the aim of forcing Starbucks to offer raises at the bargaining table. At a bargaining session this month “Starbucks proposed an economic package with no new wage increases for union baristas now and a guarantee of only 1.5% in future years,” the union said in a press release. #coffee #labourunion #strike #foodindustry #fastfood #newsletter

Starbucks workers have broadened their strike to additional U.S. cities, including New York, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and an unspecified location in New Jersey, according to Workers United, the union representing over 10,000 baristas. The five-day strike began on Friday, initially impacting Starbucks locations in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle. Talks between Starbucks and the union have stalled over unresolved issues regarding wages, staffing, and schedules, prompting the walkouts during the busy holiday season, potentially affecting Christmas sales. The strike now spans 10 cities, including Columbus, Denver, and Pittsburgh, with the union warning it could extend to "hundreds of stores" by Christmas Eve. Since negotiations began in April, Starbucks claims to have held over eight bargaining sessions, resulting in 30 agreements. However, disagreements persist, leading to escalated actions by Workers United. Starbucks, which employs around 200,000 workers across more than 11,000 U.S. locations, has not commented on the ongoing strikes. #starbuckscoffee #coffee #nyc #hubbubdigital

Q: Did you know that Starbucks workers went on strike? A: Starbucks baristas in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle launched a five-day strike on Friday morning, according to the workers' union. Starbucks Workers United, which represents employees at over 500 company-operated cafes, warned that the strike could expand to "hundreds of stores" unless the company improves its wage offer. In response, Starbucks stated that the union ended bargaining sessions "prematurely" this week and emphasized its readiness to continue negotiations to reach an agreement. The strike was authorized earlier this week after 98% of union members voted in favor of taking action. ____________________________________________________________________ If you found this valuable, please ♻️ reshare it with your network, and 🔔 follow me for more. #leadership #leadershiptip #learning #vulnerability #inspired #real #communication #culture #linkedinpremium #careeradvancement #professionalnetworking #exclusivetools #buisnesssuccess #oneplusedge #plusonepledge

The workers' union representing more than 10,000 Starbucks baristas said they have authorized a potential strike, ahead of this year's final round of bargaining talks with the coffee giant. Workers United, which has a bargaining delegation that represents workers at 525 Starbucks stores in the United States, said the coffee giant has yet to bring a comprehensive economic package to the table, while hundreds of legal disputes over unfair labor practices remain unsettled. Starbucks said in an emailed statement the union's move to authorize the strike was disappointing, and that it was committed to reaching a final framework agreement.
