In honor of #NationalFirePreventionWeek here are some helpful tips to keep in mind: 1). Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area (like a hallway), and on each level (including the basement) of the home. 2). Test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button. 3). Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old or stop responding when tested. We need your voice! Fiscal year 2025 appropriations – Congress’ work continues. It is important for congressional offices to hear from you about funding for Habitat’s priority federal programs, the need to provide disaster recovery aid, and the importance to Habitat that they finalize the process sooner rather than later. Take a moment to reach out to your congressional delegation Congress is currently operating under a continuing resolution for FY2025, which provides level funding for federal agencies. But the continuing resolution is set to expire Dec. 20. Although Congress could finalize the FY2025 appropriations bills before the end of the calendar year, Speaker Mike Johnson has noted lawmakers are likely to rely on another continuing resolution to keep the government running into early 2025, most likely until March. Punting the process until the spring would allow President-elect Donald Trump and a GOP House and Senate to play a more central role in the outcomes of government spending, which may result in deeper spending cuts than otherwise would be possible in the current split Congress. https://lnkd.in/gcEwiB23
