🔔 ECMWF is excited to announce that its Operational Acquisition and Dissemination System (ECPDS) is now open and available‼️ What is OpenECPDS? To ensure ECMWF's forecasts reach Member and Co-operating States promptly, efficient data collection and dissemination are crucial. To address this, ECMWF has developed the ECMWF Production Data Store (ECPDS) in-house, which has been operational for many years. This mature solution has greatly enhanced the efficiency and productivity of data services, providing a portable and adaptable tool for various environments. Recently, ECPDS has been rolled out to some Member States and is now being used within the United Weather Centers (UWC) West consortium. In response to positive outcomes from these deployments and a request from our Member States, ECMWF has launched the open-source project OpenECPDS ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dPymftRC Goals and advantages 🎯This initiative aims to encourage collaboration with organizations, strengthen integration, and enhance data service capabilities through community contributions. 🎯OpenECPDS is using container technologies, simplifying application building and operation across different environments. This is what we call logs. 💡 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 ▪  Logs are essential for troubleshooting and managing incidents, as they help trace the flow of information and improve performance—something that application performance monitoring (APM) alone cannot fully address. ▪ Log analysis is crucial for detecting unusual behavior and identifying potential improvements. Logs generally fall into two main types: diagnostic and audit: ▪ 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐬 focus on the application's behavior and information flow, providing details about what went wrong, when, and why. ▪  𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐬 record transactions, detailing who did what and when, which is important for meeting software requirements and ensuring legal compliance. ❕ 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 To keep the log system well structured, it's highly recommended to classify the logs in levels ordered by criticity. One example would be: ▪ error; ▪ warning; ▪ info; ▪ debug; ▪ trace. The Node.js already comes with log resources, like 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐞.𝐥𝐨𝐠. However, a complete software engineer must know robust options to make log in your systems.
