What sign or symptom is so influential that it forces you to act on it? You must answer that question as you implement new disease protocols at your practice. Once you have that question answered for each protocol at your practice: ✅ myopia ✅ glaucoma ✅ dry eye ✅ diabetes ✅ macular disease ✅ binocular vision THEN, you can devise your treatment and management plan for each condition. However, your protocol will be unsuccessful unless you "put yourself on the hook" by deciding which sign or symptom you will no longer ignore or overlook. Listen to Christopher Wolfe unpack the fine details of building an effective clinical protocol: https://lnkd.in/g52GnCfC EyeCode Education #2020habits #Optometry #MedicalEyeCare #OptometricPractice #PatientCare #EvidenceBasedOptometry #VisionCare #EyeHealth #OptometricEducation #PracticeGrowth #CollaborativeCare #optometrist #optometrists #eye #eyecare #vision #publichealth

OMG... I just read this article by CNBC, and my jaw is on the ground! The numbers are staggering. TL;DR: Here are a few of my takeaways: 1. 9.5% of hospital deaths—not just other illnesses or infections, but actual heart-stopped-no-coming-back deaths—are caused by errors. That means 250,000-440,000 people die each year because of mistakes. Yikes! 2. To quote the article, "Twenty percent of all medical procedures may be unnecessary." It also highlights the overprescription of medication, particularly opioids, following surgery. Holy smokes! So 20% of all procedures are unnecessary? That's a lot of claim dollars... cha-ching! Are you incensed? It's no wonder why healthcare is so expensive... The article's solutions include: 1. Ask questions 2. Get a second opinion 3. Bring an advocate 4. Download an app to have your medical information with you during all visits Well, that's a start. But let me add that the second opinion should come from someone other than the first doctor’s golfing buddy or someone from the same university. A second opinion can be truly eye-opening if it comes from a professional with different training, perspectives, and tools. Try a global perspective and see how much better healthcare can be. https://lnkd.in/gxkm5xki

Imagine needing healthcare and finding out that your wait time is 38 days...just to get in to see your primary / general physician. In a recent exercise reported in #BeckersHospitalReview where nearly 4000 physician practices were approached for the next available appointment as a new patient...it turns out that this is the average for US metropolitan care...with one city resulting in a 70 day wait! (You will never guess which one, and the reason why is quite interesting) Only 6% of practices could provide a wait time of 14 days or less. Have a read of the report from Becker at: https://lnkd.in/gTvrY7JU Or go directly to #ECGManagementconsultants to download the report yourself. https://lnkd.in/gMvt3BXA This brings up so many questions on the impact of 1 month delay in seeking care from disease onset. (Many cities its over 45 days). How would you solve this problem? Where would you start? How does this compare to where you live? I'm keen to hear everyones thoughts? #oncopericia #oncoshot #clinicaltrials #oncologycare

🚀 Are you ready to propel dentistry into the future? 🌟 In a presentation by Dr. Nabors at our recent event in Nashville, TN, he explored the evolution of testing methodologies in oral medicine. Studies from all the way back in the 60s are still the common standard of care, and while these studies are valuable, we also need to push forward in order to properly treat patients. It's time to break free from outdated standards and embrace the future of gum disease treatment. 💡 Just because bleeding and inflammation is no longer visible doesn't guarantee that the infection has disappeared. Each patient is unique, requiring personalized care tailored to their specific needs. With the HR5 high-risk pathogen test, you'll uncover the presence and composition of the bacteria that is causing inflammation, empowering you to create customized treatment plans. 🦠🔬 Say goodbye to the one-size-fits-all approach and start testing today to revolutionize patient care! #OralMedicine #OralSystemicHealth #PersonalizedCare #PreventiveCare #HR5Test
