Still buzzing from being part of this fantastic event! Being picked to pitch was such an amazing opportunity - and wow, those young investors really didn't hold back with their questions! 😄 Their fresh perspective and genuine curiosity made the whole experience so unique. And when the experienced investors jumped in with their insights? Pure gold! Coming in second place feels incredible, especially reflecting on my fundraising journey over the last 6 months. It's been quite the ride - all those events, panels, and one-to-ones adding up to make me a stronger pitcher each time. Every bit of feedback, every challenging question, and every conversation has shaped how I present my business today. The way everything was handled was spot on - from the initial communication to the last-minute switch to online (talk about keeping cool under pressure! 👏). Props to the entire team for making it feel so seamless. (Pitching on the train to London was a challenge 🤔) Really love that this is happening in the #WestMidlands - we've been needing something like this! It's amazing to see young people getting hands-on experience with investment decisions. The confidence and knowledge these students showed was mind-blowing. Can't wait to see what future events bring and how these young investors develop. ✨ Kicking off #ScaleUP Stories at the Bissett School of Business! ✨ Yesterday, I had the privilege of hosting the first session of ScaleUP Stories as part of my "Growing the Enterprise" senior undergraduate course. We were joined by the inspiring Dick Brown, President and CEO of Kathairos Solutions, who won the ScaleUP Sector Award at the inaugural ScaleUP Week. In this live case study format, students worked as strategic advisory boards, analyzing the development of Kathairos to a key inflection point. They presented thoughtful, well-founded recommendations—both groups accurately appraised the situation! We concluded by learning what actually happened next and dove into the exciting future vision for Kathairos. This is the first in a series of ScaleUP Stories featuring award winners from the inaugural ScaleUP Week. The content is being recorded to be shared as case studies in other classrooms, within and beyond Mount Royal University, and will be featured in the upcoming Edward Elgar Publishing casebook in collaboration with Oleksiy and Katia, titled "Cases on High Growth Entrepreneurship: Scaling Up for Success." 📚 It's incredible to see such energy and insight from the next generation of business leaders. 🚀 Elevating Bold Ideas at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs (RICE)! 🚀 This week, I had the incredible privilege to deliver a dynamic pitching workshop at RICE in Atlanta, preparing their stakeholders for Pharrell's Black Ambition 'No Pressure' Pitch Competition 🎤 which they are in partnership with on this venture.✨ With around 45 ambitious entrepreneurs in the room, we dove deep into the art of the one-minute pitch. This wasn't just any elevator pitch—this was a high-stakes, high-impact pitch designed to answer a critical question: Why should the judges invest in your business? 🧐 Crafting a compelling narrative in just 60 seconds is no easy feat. It takes precision, passion, and a whole lot of preparation. We focused on three key elements: 1. Mindset: Cultivating the confidence and presence needed to make a lasting impression. 2. Structure: Organizing their ideas to hit all the right notes within the time limit. 3. Content: Ensuring their pitch clearly communicates their unique value proposition. 4. Delivery: Mastering the art of engaging and persuasive delivery to captivate the judges. The energy in the room was electric ⚡, with every stakeholder committed to showing up, supporting each other, and refining their pitches to perfection. They're ready to bring their A-game on Friday, August 23rd! 🏆 🌟 BLACK AMBITION is more than just a competition—it's a movement to fund bold ideas and uplift Black and Hispanic entrepreneurs.
