FAQ Fridays: How Can Bird Netting Help Control Infestations? 🌟 One common question we often get asked is, "How does bird netting help with bird control?" Bird netting is one of the most effective, non-invasive methods for preventing birds from nesting and roosting in unwanted areas. Here's why it's a great solution: 🦅 Prevents Access: Bird netting physically blocks birds from accessing areas where they typically nest, such as roofs, eaves, or vents. 🦅 Long-Term Solution: Once installed, it provides long-lasting protection with minimal maintenance. It’s a sustainable way to keep birds away year-round. 🦅 Safe & Humane: Unlike other methods, bird netting doesn’t harm the birds. It simply prevents them from entering specific spaces. At Flock Reduction SA, we use high-quality, eco-friendly bird netting to safeguard your property without compromising your commitment to sustainability. Discarded fishing gear poses life-threatening hazards to ocean life, often by entanglement resulting in injury. Poor Smokey the schnauzer was fortunate to get the life-saving help he needed, but many animals are often not so lucky. Data from our Litter Intelligence programme shows that, on average, there are three metal fishing-related items (and six plastic fishing-related items!) per 1,000m2 of coastline surveyed. Share Newshub’s article to spread awareness on being mindful of what we leave behind at the beach. https://lnkd.in/gBBJmqkW Want to get involved in keeping beaches clean? You can make a positive impact and protect the spaces we share with nature by joining us at our events, becoming a regular donor of our work, and remembering to pick up litter when you see it the next time you’re at the beach 🤜🤛 #beachcleanup #plasticpollution #beachlitter

Some rescue videos give the impression that our seals understand what we are doing and that we are trying to help them. They even line up nicely as they run towards the water, almost as if they want to give our rescue team the chance to scan each individual for potential entanglements. However, rescues are never routine—we never know what we will encounter next. In this case, we found a seal with a relatively recent fishing line entanglement, making it ideal for a quick and easy catch and release rescue. In other situations, we encounter deep wounds and severe entanglements that require us to inflict pain on the animal before it can feel better. For 99% of our seals, a rescue will be their only interaction with us, leaving them stressed and unpredictable. #ocn #pollution #plastic #oceanconservationnamibia #sealrescue

📢 Exciting news in the #pestcontrol industry! A recent article emphasizes the significance of bird control in preventing health-related problems caused by bird feces. Let's dive into some key points and their implications: 🦅 Methods of bird control mentioned in the article include physical, visual, multi-sensory deterrents, sonic devices, trained birds of prey, and limited use of chemicals. These solutions offer versatility and effectiveness for various infestation scenarios. ✅ Physical deterrents like bird spikes, netting, wire systems, and repellent gels are highly effective in preventing birds from roosting and nesting on outdoor structures. These solutions are becoming increasingly popular due to their long-lasting and humane nature. 👁 Visual deterrents, such as scarers, stickers, and repellent paint, use visual cues to deter birds. As bird behavior patterns evolve, combining visual deterrents with other methods can reinforce effectiveness. 🔊 Sonic devices emit unpleasant sounds to deter birds, making them highly useful in specific areas where noise can be tolerated. It's important to select devices that maintain a balance between repelling birds and minimizing disturbance to humans. 🦉 Trained birds of prey are an eco-friendly and natural solution to scare away pest birds. This method showcases the industry's constant innovation and commitment to sustainable practices. 🧪 While limited use of chemicals to repel birds exists, we acknowledge concerns about the environment. The industry is actively focusing on developing safer alternatives, prioritizing sustainability at every step. 🏢 Implications for the industry: Bird control is not just about protecting health but also preventing property damage caused by infestations.
