On this Veterans Day, lets do more than mouth the words of honoring those who have served and those that serve today. Lets remember what that service was and is for: to defend America and its purpose. That purpose may seem in danger of becoming a memory; maybe even a fading memory. But defending the Constitution and freedom has to mean more than just saying the words. The touchstone for that memory and those words is the "Greatest Generation" of World War II. Yes, the army and much of society was segregated then and women's rights were limited to voting. But change eventually came only because the deeper meanings of the Constitution and freedom were protected and revealed. Yet even as those changes came, the counter and resistance to them was forming and grew strength from a history to such resistance. And that counter and resistance are now in the ascendant for many reasons, many having nothing to with the "culture war" fires. So, the resistance and counter is now ours. As we've learned, no ascendancy is forever and life for any nation and ethos are cyclical. In honoring Veterans Day, the challenge is to begin the work to begin the end of this cycle and lay the groundwork for the next--one that will again remember the history and purpose of America.

🪖 Honoring All Who Served: Veterans Day Tribute 🎖️ On this Veterans Day, we pause to honor all who have served our nation. Veterans Day, observed on November 11, is a day not only to remember those who sacrificed their lives but also to recognize the millions of veterans who dedicated themselves to defending our freedom, often at great personal cost. It is essential to acknowledge the courage, loyalty, and commitment to the greater good that defines each veteran’s journey. Veterans are defined by their sacrifice—their willingness to put the safety and freedom of others above their own, often enduring physical and emotional hardships that are difficult to fathom. Their loyalty to our nation and commitment to serve despite the sacrifices required are qualities we cannot honor enough. Their service, whether on the front lines or in supportive roles, represents a steadfast dedication to a cause greater than themselves. November 11 is a date preserved in our history, marking the armistice that ended World War I, a significant moment when nations united in peace. By keeping this date, we ensure that the historical significance of Veterans Day endures, providing future generations with a powerful reminder of our veterans’ legacy and the importance of their service. As healthcare professionals, let us renew our commitment to supporting veterans with the respect, empathy, and care they deserve. #VeteransDay #HonoringOurHeroes #SacrificeAndService #Loyalty #CommitmentToService #HealthcareForVeterans #November11 #SupportingOurVeterans #ThankYouVeterans #HealthcareLeadership
