These two Sliders participants were caught in a candid moment, having a little pow-wow about what it feels like to compete against each other—even as friends. Moments like this remind us that healthy competition isn’t about rivalry; it’s about growth. At BikerFest Mke, we teach our young riders that competition can build resilience, sharpen focus, and push you to be your best. But even more importantly, it teaches respect—for yourself, your teammates, and even your opponents. Competing as friends means learning to balance drive with sportsmanship and understanding that while you may face off on the track, you’re still part of a team. These lessons go beyond racing. They build character and foster lifelong skills in collaboration, communication, and leadership. Seeing our participants navigate these challenges with respect and camaraderie is what makes the Sliders program so impactful. This article somehow combines many of my favorite topics - the Boston Celtics, #fatherhood, #companyculture, #organizational #dynamics and #leadership. Even if you (foolishly) don't believe that the Boston Celtics are the greatest team in sports, it shows how dedication to the right organization, leadership style and daily decisions can create multipliers for other parts of employees' lives. This specific environment wouldn't work for every business (everyone's kids freely roaming around Softworld, a Kelly Company probably wouldn't help our revenue!), but a willingness to think differently, understand how #work intersects with life, and using ancillary aspects of your #culture as a #talentacquisition tool have impact. https://lnkd.in/ezz2SMkn

🎤I am not a sports fan; however, as an LA native, it is hard to miss the excitement surrounding Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani's extraordinary accomplishments as an all-around player. ⚾ What captured my attention was an article on September 28, 2024, in the NY Times by Brad Stulbert entitled "The Practice of Groundedness: A Transformative Path to Success That Feeds – Not Crushes – Your Soul."  In his article, he suggested that one way to examine Ohtani's greatness is through the lens of "self-determination theory." In the article, he references the work of psychologists Richard Ryan and Edward Deci's observations that competence or mastery – a sense of concrete progress that can be traced back to the effort you exert – is a core need for humans to flourish. The author shared why greatness tends to be most satisfying when connected to something larger than us, noting that Ohtani's accomplishments are not achieved in isolation. It unfolds as part of a team! Ohtani's success inspires us to chase our individual goals as a team and shows how we can achieve greatness through self-determination. Want to transform your results and achieve excellence? Look no further than Nick Saban’s legendary “Process.” Nick Saban is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time, but what truly stands out to me is his mindset and what he calls “The Process.” This philosophy, highlighted in the video below, transcends football and can be applied to any business or personal pursuit. Saban breaks The Process down into three key components: 1. Identifying the things you need to do to accomplish your goals. 2. Modifying your behavior to align with accomplishing those tasks. 3. Exercising the discipline to execute those tasks consistently every day. I’ve been incorporating this approach into my business and the way we serve our clients. One example is the detailed playbooks we create for our clients. These playbooks guide our lawyers on how to approach each contract issue based on each client's preferences, helping ensure that we achieve our overall goal of optimizing each of their vendor agreements and NDAs. The playbooks help drive the behavior needed for consistent, high-quality service, no matter who on our team is handling the contract. I aspire to operate at the same high-level as Saban did at Alabama. However, like Saban emphasized, I recognize it’s not about the results themselves—it’s about striving to be the best you can be in every moment. That pursuit is where real fulfillment lies.
