Resumes need to follow formatting rules to be read by ATS tools... 🤦🏻♀️ How was I not aware of this? New (for me at least) hiring strat, everyone. We know that ATS are used to scan resumes. In fact 97% Fortune 500 companies in the USA uses them (🇫🇷 Our equivalent in France is the « CAC 40 ») . The issue is not that HR uses them to streamline the process, it's understandable. The problem is that I've have been creating and testing aesthetically pleasing resumes for a long time. I reworked, rephrased and redid my resume again and again, I thought that this is where it must be wrong, it has to be. But that I learned that most ATS programs didn't register them, because there are strict formatting requirements. When I input my resume, as a test, in jobscan (there are other platforms such as resumeworded, for testing), it shows me that many important keywords are cut, because of my file's formatting. ❌ ❌ ❌ And cut, incomplete and misspelled keywords are a no-go. Again, I am not against the use of ATS, I am ranting about my own lateness at discovering this sorting strategy employed on the hirers' side.
