Tuition Night ❌ Party Night ✔ I've been volunteering with Smileys India (Smile Lab) - Inclusion Movement since august, which makes volunteering accessible and impactful across Bangalore. On October 7, I was encouraged to transform our regular tutoring session into a fun night at Cheshire Disability Trust for girls near leela palace Bengaluru because many kids couldn't go home during their vacation. It really struck me hard. Whenever I arrive, the girls rush to give me a group hug, showing me love and respect that makes me feel like one of them. These incredible girls demonstrate remarkable maturity, ambition, and bravery, teaching me the true meaning of kindness. This moment reaffirmed the power of kindness and inclusion, highlighting how essential it is to be grateful for what we have. I’ve realized that our world is often designed for a few, excluding many. Dancing without music and learning various forms of sign language and each girl speaks at least five languages with brave and smart minds. Being with them has taught me to observe, listen, and opened my eyes to see the world i failed to see. Now I'm happy in taking small steps day by day to create an inclusive world. What began as casual weekend volunteering has evolved into a meaningful weekday commitment alongside my friend Debrupa Nag. Taking a break from social medias to focus on family, site visits and audits at work has been refreshing, and I'm grateful for this impactful volunteering journey.
