🌟 Just Wrapped My First 24-Hour Hackathon at COEP MindSpark 🌟
We built an end-to-end solution for a Voice-Enabled Medicine Reminder for Senior Citizens – all in just 24 hours! 🚀
It was an exhilarating experience, coding through the night, delivering features like OCR-based prescription processing and Google Home integration, and even throwing in a few bonus functionalities!
Here’s what we built:
OCR for Prescriptions – Snap a picture, and get reminders based on it.
Voice Input – No prescription? Simply dictate your meds (our bonus feature!).
Google Home Integration – Audio alerts on smart speakers without any wake-up words.
Managing Multiple Family Members – Reminders tailored around mealtimes for each family member.
Medicine Marketplace – We went the extra mile with an integrated marketplace.
This full-stack solution, built with NextJS, MongoDB, Python, FastAPI, EasyOCR, and more, wouldn’t have been possible without my amazing teammates Varad Deshpande and Kabeer Ahmed Merchant. We worked in perfect sync, and thanks to detailed planning and communication, we completed everything without a single merge conflict!
While we didn't win, it came down to approach and what the juries were looking for. Sometimes, it’s not just about building the best solution but aligning with specific preferences and requirements. Still, we were proud to be one of the few teams that successfully integrated smart speaker functionality.
The experience taught us so much, and I’m grateful for the collaboration. Looking forward to the next challenge!

Curious how to build a simple RAG?
Here’s a sample code snippet that explains how to make a RAG model using PDF documents. I wrote this code for a hackathon for parsing PDF documents for a debate assistant.

Just 4 more days until the #PyAirbyte Hackathon! 💻
Now's the time to set up your IDEs, stock up on coffee, and get in the zone. We can't wait to see the tutorials you'll build.

Update! Brainrot Hackathon hosted by Audrey Chen
This is the last day, of me working on my prototype for this Hackathon. I enjoyed it, I had struggled, especially since I only have 4 hours of working on this a day. Whew. I learnt a lot especially uploading photos to AWS S3 and accessing from S3 to display dog's photo in the Main View (Matching View)
It's cut down by a huge margin, since I'm working by myself and due to time constraints. But I'm happy with what I've accomplished in this small time frame.
Working link at: https://lnkd.in/gSQnQnbR
Frontend uses Formik for Form State Management, emotion/styled for it's design, a bit of shadcn.ui too, and axios for communicating to server.
Backend uses Node.js, Multer, for file storage, and bunch of middlewares.
Photos are being stored in AWS S3,
Database used is MongoDB
I'll continue working on this project even after Hackathon.
Future Implementations:

P.S. I thank my wife for being supportive, I thought I'll be living in the dog house after this. 😂
Our team crushed it as finalists, working on automating drill core rock sample lithology logging! 🖥️ My role? I was the maestro behind designing the software's UI! 🎨
Competitors were no joke, and they snagged the top spot. 🏅 But hey, we're leaving with a backpack full of lessons - teamwork, resilience, and the art of rolling with the tech punches! 💪 Ready to bounce back next year, stronger than ever! 🌟 Let's shine up those skills and snag that trophy in 2024! 💻 #SIH2023#HackathonJourney#ProblemSolvers#TechInnovation#LearningExperience#NextYearWeWin.

What could brighten your break more than actively solving a problem?
I teamed up with two of my friends, Praise Aribisala and Obatula Fuad to enter my first-ever Hackathon! #HackOps1.0
For the next five days, we’ll be on our toes, developing an idea around the Hackathon theme: “Building for Productivity.”
It’s my first time doing this, but I’m super pumped for what’s to come!
