As a member of the military you have an existing personal brand crafted for you by the Department of defense and by your branch of service. As a civilian job seeker you need to effectively communicate your brand, new and updated and distinct (for the most part) from your military service. Here are a few tips for doing so: 1. Redefine Your Purpose: 🌅 Fighting an winning America's wars is no longer your reason to get out of bed in the morning. It's time for your to discover and redefine your "why". 🤔 2. Communicate: 📩📱🖥️🤝 Convey to others, in every forum available, what your goals are, what your unique value is and what you are ready to contribute to the world and the workplace in the next 20-30 years. 3. Translate: No many people will understand if I tell them I was assigned to A/2-503 PIR ABN. 😵 Remember only 1% have served, less than that have been in the Army, less than that have been on the base you called home and less than that know the unit designations under that Brigade. Ditch the acronyms, military jargon and unit designations. Speak English, please. 🗣️ 4. Grow Your Hair: Nobody is going to be impressed with your high and tight. In fact it will look very out of place. 🪮 You don't have to become a Dead-Head hippie, but for God's sake buy a comb and learn how to use it. ✂️ 5. Buy A Couple of Good Suits: 🤵🏼You looked sharp in uniform, look sharp in your NEW uniform. And take that promotion photo off your LinkedIn profile and get yourself a headshot with a suit on. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have.💼 6. Perfect the 30 Second Elevator Pitch: Craft, rehearse and perfect your 30 second elevator pitch and get ready to put it to use at events like RecruitMilitary career fairs. Elevator Pitch: https://lnkd.in/e9jssqkC Career Fairs: https://lnkd.in/gVRkrTNP You Got This. Assassin 6, Out. #recruitmilitary #careefair #veteranemployment #hiring #transitioningservicemembers

As veterans, we've walked the path of service, sacrifice, and camaraderie. But when transitioning from military life to the civilian job world, we often face a new battlefield - one where our skills and experiences seem lost in translation. Many of us know this reality all too well: the only ones who genuinely seem to understand the value of our military careers and past histories are fellow veterans themselves. While our civilian counterparts may struggle to grasp the significance of our service, our brothers and sisters-in-arms recognize the strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication forged through our military journey. Navigating this transition can feel like a solitary journey, but it doesn't have to be. As veterans, we have a unique bond and a shared understanding that transcends words. We know the challenges of transitioning into civilian life and are here to support each other every step of the way. So, to my fellow veterans, I want to remind you that you're not alone. Reach out to your fellow servicemembers, lean on your military community, and tap into the resources available to you. From networking events and mentorship programs to veteran-focused job fairs and support groups, there are countless opportunities to connect with others who understand and appreciate the value of your military experience. And to those who may not fully understand the depth of our service, I urge you to take the time to listen, learn, and appreciate the unique skills and perspectives that veterans bring to the table. Our military training instills leadership, teamwork, adaptability, and perseverance - invaluable in any workplace. Let's continue to support and uplift each other as we navigate this new chapter in our lives. Our military journey may have ended, but our camaraderie and commitment to each other endure. We are stronger together, and together, we will overcome any challenge that comes our way. 🤝🇺🇸 #VeteranCommunity #MilitaryTransition #BrothersInArms #SupportOurVeterans #CamaraderieStrong 💪🌟
