Thrilled to announce the release of my latest research article in the International Marketing Review titled “Exploring Authenticity Meanings in the Global-Local Continuum: Semiotic Insights from the Måneskin Case.” 🎸📚 In this study, I delve into brand positioning and authenticity through the lens of the internationally acclaimed Italian rock band, Måneskin. Using Greimas’s semiotic framework, I analyze social media and media articles to unravel consumer perceptions of global, local, and intermediate brand positionings, and the various dimensions of authenticity that emerge within this global-local continuum. Key Insights: • The intricate balance between global conformity and local connections (i.e., "glocalization") • The perspective of "glalienation," where neither global nor local values dominate, fostering a sense of uniqueness and consistency • How authenticity perceptions shift and evolve, challenging traditional binary brand positioning (e.g., global vs. local) I am grateful to the #InternationalMarketingReview team, and to Daniele Dalli and Kent Grayson for their support and insightful feedback at the beginning of this project.
