Last week, our sales team gathered for an energizing two-day planning session to map out 2025 with focus, detail, and action. We focused on training and education to sharpen our skills and strategies, along with time to celebrate our achievements and set the stage for the year ahead. The sessions were packed with hands-on training, educational workshops, and collaborative discussions, equipping our sales team with the tools needed to succeed in the year ahead. A big thank you to Chris Stewart, Mike Kitchen, and Aman Gill for sharing valuable insights during our dealer panel. Here’s to a successful 2025—let’s make it our best year yet!

I’m leading a 2.5 day in-person training this week with a client, focusing on value selling. And then the team will be transitioning to QBRs for another day or so. My client’s resident enablement hype man, Jordan Rickard, shared this quote with me, which I thought was great. “When fishermen can’t go to sea, they mend their nets.” Of course this suggests that during periods of inactivity or downtime in one’s primary activity, one should focus on maintaining and improving their tools, skills, etc. Sales training, or the upcoming sales kickoff season, is a bit like forced downtime. But it is a good reminder that we should look for opportunities to improve our tools and craft when having a slow period.

You may have experienced this feeling at the end of a sales training session. “Great training, too much to take in.” This week I have started working with an individual on a tailored, one to one sales development program. Their content, their pace to meet their needs. This is just one option to ensure we avoid that overloaded feeling. Others include; 🗣️ focus on “doing” rather than the theory - go deeper on less theory 🗓️ play around with the format - half day training followed by individual coaching rather than a full day training can be more productive 🕰️ generous time given to action planning - not 10 mins at the end, enough time to discuss and plan how you will actually use the theory There are many more.
