Learnings from Six Peaks. On the weekend I completed the Six Peaks in One Day Challenge to raise money for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation to put life saving equipment for children into hospitals in Australia. Organised superbly by Reed & Co. Estate Agents The event raised over $70,000, and we personally raised just under $8,000. We also managed to climb over 1500m elevation, cover close to 20km, burn about 20,000 kilojoules. What are the learnings? 1. Training matters. Preparation is critical in all things. 2. Painful moments will come, and the skill is being able to persevere and keep moving. When sh#t gets real, grit gets you through. 3. Community starts with those we know and how we can support each other - heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this great cause. Community also means doing things for others you don't know and will most likely never meet. 'Just because we can' is a great feeling. 4. Team matters when we are in our uncomfortable zones - good things happen when the stretch is from the collective. Heartfelt thanks to all those who supported the cause.
