Thanks for sharing this episode and highlighting our work! There is something wonderful about the ability to share a 3D image of an artwork that contains audio and interactivity. So many 3D cultural heritage objects have become completely decontextualized on sharing platforms as museums struggle with the technical challenges that surround 3D content creation and delivery. When you view this object on your phone or headset (haven’t seen it on a Vision Pro yet) it’s a very personal experience. Once you select your language, the interface drops away and you are free to experience the object in your environment as the curator shares important background information. There are no distracting pre-defined hot spots or distracting blocks of dense text. It’s just you and a curator over your shoulder. As a self-contained file it can be freely shared and reshared via text for example. You don’t need to be online to enjoy the experience and the content is easily created using free iOS software that doesn’t require web coding knowledge or complex game development software expertise. I hope more institutions pick up on the benefits of #openusd. We look forward to wider adoption of native USDZ browser / operating system support to bring this content to an even wider audience. The rapid industry adoption of #openusd is an indicator that both creators and end users desperately need a universal format for 3D archiving and interchange. This project was just a test if you feel we should create more please comment.

Ever wondered what it feels like to literally be the loneliest person…ever? (I’m using the word literally, literally.) Ever wondered if life is completely random or if we are living in The Matrix? What if it’s both or a version of both? What if free will is actually a cage? What does it mean when we realize a collective experience is actually an amalgamation and compilation of countless individual experiences? Does that mean a collective experience is never possible, and if yes, what are the ramifications of that realization? Did you know there’s a weird connection between our splintered, social-media-driven lives today, and the cassette tape and The Walkman, and the 80’s self-help craze and Ronald Reagan, and the Apollo 11 moon mission? If you’re intrigued to learn some of the answers and have your minds properly blown, then check out this short podcast episode by Radiolab: https://lnkd.in/gC-cmKkC #radiolab
