Assessing video quality on the decoder can reveal a treasure trove of data for optimizing video transcoding and delivery. But computing quality on the device (which is playing back in real-time) is a hard problem. This problem has several constraints, such as the metric itself (PSNR, SSIM, or VMAF), the device's computing, and memory limitations, for starters. I wonder if computing the quality for select frames is a possible work around? Interesting problem! Yu-Chen (Eric) Sun explains more in this podcast with Zoe Liu and Thomas Davies.

Our first time using Apple multicam for Final Cut on iPad Pro and it was abit of a pain for a work flow. We started with one iPad camera and three other iPhone 15 cameras but 2 dropped off and wouldn’t connect so we ended up only using two angles.
