Thank you WHEC-TV and photographer Andy Heinze for interviewing some of our wonderful refugees. It's all part of a story about students at Mercy High School, who've chosen to support the refugee community this Christmas. Look for the news report in the days ahead. Rochester truly is a generous place. We are grateful!

Together We Stand: Refugee Families Belong Together 💬 🔸 Families First, Always. 🔸 Together, Nothing Is Impossible. 💛 Every family deserves to be together. Yet, countless families forced to flee war, persecution, or disaster find themselves torn apart, facing barriers to reunification. Refugee families should not have to endure the pain of separation simply because of circumstances beyond their control. At the Committee for Defense of Freedom and Rights (CDFR), we believe in a world where family unity is not just a hope but a fundamental right. ✊ Our mission is to defend and uphold this right for refugee families, ensuring they find safety, stability, and the joy of togetherness once again. 🌍 Through relentless advocacy, direct support programs, and partnerships with global organizations, we work to bridge the gaps and remove the obstacles that keep families apart. But we cannot do this alone. We need you to stand with us, amplify the voices of displaced families, and demand policies that prioritize family reunification. ❤ Refugee families belong together. Together, we can make it happen! #RefugeeRights #FamilyUnityMatters #HumanRightsForAll #TogetherForRefugees #RefugeeFamilyReunion #RefugeeAdvocacy #GlobalSolidarity #ForcedToFlee #FreedomAndRights #FamiliesBelongTogether #StandWithRefugees #CompassionInAction #SafeHavenForAll #HumanDignity #LoveKnowsNoBorders #JusticeForRefugees #WeAreOneHumanity #RightToFamily #SupportRefugees #EveryFamilyCounts #RefugeeVoices #EndFamilySeparation #HumanitarianAction #RefugeesWelcome #DefendFreedom #CDFR #Skåne #Helsingborg #hbgcity #hbgstad

Many people believe refugees come to the U.S. for a better life, but that's not the case. Refugees are often forced to flee their homes due to threats to their lives and safety, usually from war or persecution. It is often a matter of life and death for these families. Even when they reach the U.S., finding housing can be tough, despite having the means to support themselves. At Compound Impact, we work with partner resettlement agencies to provide homes for refugee families. With a safe place to call home, these families can start anew. Children can feel safe again and start dreaming for the future. Beautiful illustration to highlight our recent Impact Webinar series on #refugees From lose of dignity, busting the myth of seeking a better life, the never ending waiting, and the recent UK race riots. Privileged to host Dina Nayeri, the award winning writer, speaker who left Iran as a child refugee, and Rachel Ellis, CEO of the inspirational Refugee Support Europe for this session. OnHand users can also find a bitesize talk with Refugee Support Europe founder Paul Hutchings on the app. Let's change the narrative for all vulnerable groups. Kudos Kirsty Ho for the illustration 🙏

I truly believe in standing by each other, not just lending a hand. We all need someone in our corner, cheering us on and helping us reach our dreams. It's about more than just helping – it's about supporting by believing in each other's abilities and giving each other the support we need to succeed. Catalyzing change takes collaboration. Take it from Sasha Chanoff, CEO and Founder of RefugePoint. As we learned from Sasha on this week's episode, bold transformation does not happen with one person or organization but with many coming together under a North Star. For RefugePoint and 30 other organizations, their North Star was fixing the broken refugee resettlement system. Together, they created the Self-Reliance Index, a tool that helps measure a refugee's progress toward self-reliance. The end goal? To empower all refugees to become dignified citizens in their new home country. 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/evk5WqDZ

I'm thrilled to celebrate five years at HIAS! It's been an incredible journey working alongside dedicated colleagues and making a tangible impact on the lives of people worldwide. Here are some highlights from the past half-decade: - Crisis Response: Mobilized effective responses to the fall of Kabul, the war in Ukraine, and the Israel-Hamas conflict. We raised upwards of $1 million for humanitarian aid and facilitated the formation of 34 local private sponsorship groups to welcome over 100 individual refugees in California. - Policy Wins: Successfully advocated for policy and funding wins for HIAS' four California resettlement affiliates through strategic partnerships with organizations like Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California (JPAC) and the CHIRLA-led CA Welcomes Coalition. This resulted in securing $8 million over three years for asylee case management, putting up strong fronts to secure state support for asylum shelter programs at the border. - Partnership Expansion: Grew HIAS' reach by recruiting JFCS of Long Beach/West Orange County to become our newest California resettlement partner to earn U.S. Department of State approval to welcome newcomers. - Advocacy and Education: Designed and implemented numerous advocacy and educational programs to empower individuals to take action on behalf of refugees. These initiatives have had a profound impact on raising awareness and fostering support for our cause. While reflecting on our achievements, it's clear that the refugees, asylum seekers, and other forcibly displaced people are increasingly politicized worldwide, making our work more crucial than ever. I invite you support HIAS in these challenging times. Looking forward to continuing the work with so many of you across my network! #refugeeswelcome #refugeesupport #asylumseekers #asylum #humanitarian #humanitarianwork #humanitarianism #emergencyresponse #crisisresponse
