The myth that paying off a collection account will instantly boost your credit score is widespread, but the reality is a bit more nuanced. While settling a collection account is a positive step towards repairing your credit, the impact on your credit score may not be immediate. It can take some time, often several months, for the payment to be updated and reflected on your credit report. During this period, your credit score may not see an immediate improvement, as the process of updating credit information is not instantaneous. It's important to be patient and continue making responsible financial decisions to see the positive effects on your credit score over time. #mythbustermonday #collection #creditscore #improvecredit #creditscore #facts #fact #truth

Did you know? Most credit score 'champions' have an average age of accounts (AAoA) of 9 years or more. People with longer credit histories who infrequently open new accounts generally pose less risk to lenders. If you want to maximize your score try not to close those old credit cards you don't use anymore and try to limit 'new' accounts to one per year. If you have virtually no credit, it would be a good idea to get a credit line or two going now so that down the line you can be a credit score 'champion' and have more financial flexibility available to you.

💳 Myth #5: Closing a Credit Card is a Good Idea! ❌ One of the biggest misconceptions in credit repair is thinking that closing a credit card will help your credit score. Truth is, it can actually hurt it! Here’s why: 1️⃣ Credit History Length – Closing an account can shorten the overall age of your credit history, which is a key factor in your score. 2️⃣ Credit Utilization – By closing a card, you’re lowering your total available credit, which can raise your credit utilization ratio. A high utilization ratio can damage your score! 🚫 Instead of closing your cards, keep them open and use them wisely. A zero balance on an open card looks better than no card at all! #CreditRepair #CreditMyths #CreditCardTips #FinancialFreedom #CreditScoreBoost #JdpCreditSolutions
