Are you planning to attend the Plant and Animal Genome Conference in January 2025 #PAG32 ? You can now submit an abstract to present your work at one of the Phytobiomes Alliance workshops: - “Exploring Phytobiomes” workshop | Sunday 12 January, 4:00-6:10pm This workshop will feature talks exploring various aspects of research to understand phytobiomes systems. - “The Uniqueness and Commonalities Between Plant, Animal and Soil Microbiomes” workshop | Tuesday 14 January, 4:00-6:10pm This workshop will explore the interconnections between plants, animals, and soils, and their shared environments. Research related to interactions with people as defined in the One Health approach are also of interest. Presentations should demonstrate how knowledge gained from these diverse communities can lead to a general understanding of agriculturally related microbiomes. Happening in less than an hour! Our research asks if adopting intensification strategies and mitigation technologies (without lowering meat + milk demand) are *enough* to meet CH4 targets at global and regional scales Come by to find out if they are (or not) if you’re here at #AGU24!
Can 2050 cattle CH4 mitigation targets be met through intensification and mitigation technologies? Are these strategies enough to reduce CH4 without lowering consumption of meat and milk? How do CH4 emissions trajectories vary at global and regional scales? If you'll be at AGU in Washington, D.C. this year, swing by my poster on Monday, Dec. 09 to find out! I'll be in the Monday afternoon poster session, 13:40-17:30, poster no. GC13L-0336. I'll present preliminary findings from ex-ante modeling I've conducted at NYU with Matthew Hayek through the Center for Environmental and Animal Protection and Department of Environmental Studies. And, if you won't be at AGU this year, but want to learn more and connect, please reach out!

🐟 🌍 This #WorldTunaDay, let's dive deeper into the impact of our choices! 🚨 Scientific research has repeatedly shown that fish feel pain and fear, suffering just as other animals do. Regardless of this fact, fish aren’t protected by the Humane Slaughter Act in the United States. This means that they’re killed in a variety of excruciating ways, without regard to the suffering they endure before death. 🔵 Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gi-2sdbJ. 💙 Let's use World Tuna Day to drive momentum towards a plant-based future: https://lnkd.in/gUdBrzgf!

When REACh is revised to include endocrine endpoints, how will the new challenges be met? And how many animals will be required to fulfill the new requirements? The National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs) as well as my former colleagues James Wheeler and Lauren Kent PhD, DABT, ERT have released a paper, available as a pre-proof, to spell out the issues. https://lnkd.in/eB-wSn7u

Get the inside scoop on animal use in science with EU stats! 2021 and 2022 data were published in July. But did you know that from 2021 data onwards, it is now possible to dive into Member State-level data with ALURES. Understanding the differences between countries shaped by their specific type of research and industry is crucial for making progress. With such differences between countries, only sufficient level of detail will help us find solutions that will fit. The ALURES Statistical EU database awaits! https://lnkd.in/ekBtU87u
