Congratulations to 2024 Virgil Abloh™️ "Post-Modern" Scholar Gabrielle Moore of Cornell University for being included in the Cornell Fashion Collective Fall Show, titled “Circus.” "For this look, I explored circus aesthetics and androgyny, blending masculine and feminine elements with my brand’s CITYW3AR's signature zippers. Inspired by Christian Dior Couture ’90s and 2000s collections, this piece offers a bold preview of my upcoming spring collection, celebrating duality and transformation, with a hint of theatrical whimsy inspired by Dior's Spring/Summer 2002 couture show." –Gabrielle Moore Bravo, Gabrielle, and thanks for sharing your work with us! Christian Dior’s vision was revolutionary. His debut “New Look” in 1947 redefined femininity, blending grace and strength, and set the standard for haute couture. But what makes truly remarkable is its ability to evolve whilst preserving its legacy—a hallmark of luxury branding done right. Each Christian Dior Couture creative director, from Yves Saint Laurent to Maria Grazia Chiuri, has upheld the brand’s core elements, such as its nature-inspired motifs and iconic star symbolism. 💐The “feminine flowers” like roses and lilies of the valley have consistently appeared in collections, celebrating timeless elegance. ⭐️The star—a lucky charm for Dior himself—remains a subtle yet powerful brand symbol, bridging tradition with modernity. Luxury brands can learn from Dior’s approach: honor your origins while embracing the future. Consistent #storytelling, iconic brand elements, and exceptional #craftsmanship are essential to building not just a brand, but a legacy. #luxurybranding Full video: https://lnkd.in/d-PyQgBn 👉Follow my hashtag hashtag #fashionbrief for fashion insights & analysis!

Forget fashion trends, let's talk about fashion legacies. I've discovered a 300-page research paper that changed how I view the industry. Fashion content on TikTok and Reels is insufficient when it comes to learning the industry’s know-how. I've got something better for you. It's called "Dior without Dior: Tradition and Succession in Paris Couture House" by Sarah Skillen. Whether you’re into brands, fashion, or simply entrepreneurship, it can teach you how Christian Dior Couture, the brand, survived after Christian Dior himself was gone in 1957. It's a masterclass in brand evolution. Dior didn't just replace its founder with a new designer and call it a day. They carefully helped each new creative mind fit into the Dior legacy. What I love most is how they managed to keep the brand's soul while still moving forward. Each new designer wasn't better or worse than Christian Dior - they were just right for their time. Let's take a look: 1. Christian Dior himself, who revolutionized post-war fashion with his "New Look" in 1947. 2. Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, who at just 21 years old saved the company from potential financial ruin with his fluid silhouettes. 3. Marc Bohan, the longest-reigning head of Dior (even longer than Christian Dior himself!), who defined 60s fashion. 4. John Galliano, whose tenure saw some of the most opulent and controversial collections in fashion history. 5. Raf Simons, whose brief but impactful time at Dior is now considered one of the strongest in the brand's history. 6. Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first woman to lead the brand, bringing a feminist perspective to Dior's heritage. This paper isn't just about Dior. It's about how any brand with a long history can pivot and grow, even without its original creator. So, if you want to really understand fashion beyond the latest trends, give this a read. It's changing how I see the whole industry. Best part? It's in PDF format that is free to read and download. The link is in the comments if you want to explore this fascinating read. #fashion #timeless #brands #industry

"The New Look series explores the world of Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and the fashion industry against the backdrop of World War II, and it amazed me," says Lora Nekrasova. Dior devoted his creations to his mother and gained fame by popularizing floral fragrances. The dynamic storytelling in 'The New Look' is truly captivating. In 1947, Dior introduced the New Look style, a fusion of elegance and luxury —this new aesthetic celebrated romantic, delicate, and confident women. It's fascinating to see that our customer preferences research this year has revealed a similar desire, validating the timelessness of Dior's vision. Today, the trend focuses on self-expression with a hint of hedonism and small pleasures, perfectly captured in our perfumes and candles. What do you think about the trend in which the series inspired Lora? How has it changed your business strategies? We'd love to hear your thoughts. #fragrance #smallbusiness #thenewlook

Since the 19th century, haute couture has been bringing together both ancient craftsmanship and the evolving needs of clients, as social backdrops shift and change, aiming to provide a rarefied elegance for the happy few who can afford it. In the wake of last week's Haute Couture Fashion Week and in the midst of the decisive French elections, a general sense of unrest is palpable in the country. Even though politics have been increasingly present on the ready-to-wear runways, the couture collections reflect focus back on the garments, offering quiet excellence for some, and a — much-needed — space for fantasy for others. https://cnn.it/45NuXOs

I love a good exhibition. Beautifully curated collections that tell a story of how creative work has evolved and how it endures over time. The Christian Dior Exhibition was well worth a visit to see how fashion captures mood of the moment from 1940s through to present time with theatrical and skillful couture. It included the infamous the T-shirt that rocked the fashion world in 2016 with the slogan 'We should all be feminists' on it. I don't aspire to wear Dior, but seeing the clever design, the crisp and elegant lines of the 1950s dresses up close was a real treat. In my coaching I often work with people on what their authentic identity is. I ask the question 'who are you?' and explore the alignment between the core beliefs people hold, the choices they make and the behaviours they demonstrate each day. It strikes me that the focus on what we wear and how we look is taking up a disproportionate amount of energy in life. What clothes we wear and how we look often is confused with what our identity is. I would encourage a focus on knowing what's really on the inside rather than just considering what others see on the outside. This may change the choices you make in your personal style. 🤔 So, the question for today is, if you were designing your own clothing that really represented who you were on the inside, what would it look like? I'm still mulling this one over in my own head. 🤣 #coaching #mindset #inspiration #development #growth #collaboration #expression #inclusion #storytelling
